Rescue

Narrow stone steps lead steeply upwards... but not too far.

Quiet Corners
Thick woolen tapestries dull the noise from the rest of the caverns, turning this well-lit little room into a welcome escape. The stairs up place it against the bowl wall somewhere above the living caverns, carpeted against the winters chill or left as cool stone floor in summer. Some high and narrow windows can be opened to the world outside, or secured with their heavy metal-sided shutters and blue-threaded curtains.
Glowlight gleams, brightening the well-cushioned stone couches and lighting the weyr residents half-finished projects: knitting undone, sewing only started, leathers being worked soft, and even a hide of sketches or half-finished Thread-chart spread out across one of the tables.
Curled up amongst the baskets of wool are Nut, Cavalier, and Samedi.

P'rru comes up the stairs.

Stretched out on a couch, Kinecha's feet are propped up on the armrest in one end, and her head on the armrest in the other end. Eyes closed, she appears to be asleep, if it wasn't for the slow movement of her hand, stroking the back of the bronze firelizard sprawled out on her belly.

P'rru is trying to creep in. And look, Necha's asleep, he's safe. So he folds into a big armchair, (he'd rather the couch but candidate is sprawled there already). With a wide yawn, a lick of lips, and Purr closes his eyes. Feel the serenity. Ahhh.

"Hello, P'rru," Kinecha mutters, hearing the well-known footsteps of the rider. "How're you and Dsalth," she says, opening her eyes, then sitting up to look the him in the eye. A look saying 'I know what happened'..

P'rru doesn't. He is, again oblivious. He hasn't been back to his weyr during the night at all. "Oh we're well. Glad Amalia is back from her little trip..wherever she went. Had a rather charming dinner with her last night.." mebe thats why he looks so happy. Score! He blinks rapidly though when the candidate gives him that look "Whaaat?"

Kinecha grins lopsidedly, leaning a bit closer toward the rider, a movement that receives a squawk from Samedi in her arms. "I /thought/ you told me that Dsalth had stopped kidnapping people?" Tilting her head, she blinks a few time, then leans back again, allowing the bronze to crawl off her lap to curl up on the couch beside her. "'Lonie is missing.. Did ya hear that?"

P'rru's eyes widen, eyebrows bobbing almost to his hairline. "What? No..no I would have heard him being smug about it...no..no your wrong, the girls just run away...or she's hiding..that's it..yes, there has to be another explanation" his whole body tightens, eyes hazing over as he asks his dragon what happened.

Loren comes up the stairs.

Kinecha hmmms, as her eyes bore into the brownrider. She'd not stop until she knew the truth. Staring gets interrupted for a moment as she hears more footsteps and she glances in that direction. "Hey, Loren," she says, returning her stare at P'rru, "I think P'rru knows where 'Lonie is.." Well, she hadn't forgotten what it was to be a guard, now had she. Which included finding lost people. And questioning people about lost people.

P'rru holds his palms up, innocent, giving a slight smile for Loren. "Look, Kinecha, just stop assuming Dsalth has been up to his usual tricks. He's denying it. He says he has no idea of the girl's whereabouts...in fact, Druseth may have eaten her..although that's not nearly as likely.." fidgeting with nerves, the brownrider shifts uneasily in his chair. "And stop looking at me like that!"

Loren wanders in, fiddling in agitation with the sleeve of her robe. "I can't believe I did it /again./" A faint whine, and then a blink, and she peers over at Kinecha. "Hullo, Kinecha ... oh, he does?" Another blink, and she peeks at P'rru, tilting her head. "Where's she at? Did you lose her? It's not very nice to lose people, you know." Peer, peer.

Kinecha eyerolls, shaking her head at the brownrider's denial. "Listen, P'rru. Kez told me, he'd seen Dsalth take off with her..." Reminded her too much of another incident, involving herself and same brown dragon. "And we all know he's done it before?!" Not really a question as much as a statement, but Necha leans forward again looking at P'rru with piercing eyes. "I'd tend to believe Kez in this matter." Seeing as Dsalth's past kidnappings were speaking against him.

P'rru chokes, face blotchy and red. "No..ahem, Kezenex is wrong. You'd take the word of a candidate over me?" balk. He's getting suspicious, eyes flashing in and out as he obviously continues to interrogate Dsalth. "I didn't /lose/ Hynolonie, Loren. Its all a misunderstanding..are you sure she's not hiding under a table in the caverns?"

"I still think you lost her," Loren states, plopping on a cushion with a sage nod. "Since he's a Candidate, and all." And you're supposed to stick up for your fellows, or something like that. "And I haven't seen her since ... since a while ago. I don't think she'd want to be under a table for that long." Shudder, goes Lo', who then resumes trying to open her sleeve back up.

"P'rru, Dsalth's done this before," Kinecha starts out quite sensibly, as she softens her stare, "who's to say he won't do it again?" Nodding in agreement with Loren, juts out her chin, looking at P'rru down the length of her nose. "And I really don't think Kez would lie, now would he?"

P'rru folds his arms across his chest sullenly glaring between the two girls. "Fine" he states "Dsalth kidnapped Hynolonie for Faranth knows what reason...it just means she's safe, right? Probably having a fine time eating all my food and sleeping in my bed..." he trails off, shaking his head. "I spend one night away from the lughead, and he gets me into trouble!"

Loren stares at P'rru. "You /stole/ her?" This, you see, is worse than losing her. "That's not very nice. Why would anyone want to steal a Candidate?" Lo' ponders this for a moment, giggles spastically, and then blinks and peers at P'rru again. "Why would anyone want to steal anyone? Even Dsalth." Blink, blink. Eye.

"Wellll," Kinecha says, lifting a shoulder in a slight shrug. She did have to admit that being with Dsalth meant being safe, but that didn't mean having a fine time, now did it? Turning to Loren, she gives her fellow candidate a friendly smile, "he's done it before," she whispers, leaning a little closer. "And P'rru, you might find that weyr of yours enjoyable, but I certainly didn't when /I/ was stuck up there!"

P'rru peers back at Loren. "I didn't /steal/ her. I think borrow is a more apt term for it" he does quirk an eyebrow at Kinecha though. Lo wants to know why Dsalth would steal someone? "At least she isn't lost right..right?" he grimaces at Kinecha. "There's nothing wrong with my weyr, it's perfectly homely...you just didn't know how lucky you were. Sunset is smashing from my ledge!" ha. So there.

Loren waves a hand. "You borrowed her? I bet you did it without asking. That means you /stole/ her and that's bad." A sage nod, and then she hrms at Kinecha. "He has?" Dsalth the kleptomaniac. Interesting concept.

Kinecha frowns at P'rru, her eyebrows almost merging into one. Borrow! Hah! Turning to Loren she nods slowly a sidelong look at P'rru, "yes, he did. Said P'rru needed a weyrmate." So the Dsalth actually spoke to Necha, which helped a lot, or there's no telling /what/ she would have done the day she'd been kidnapped. "You ever consider how 'Lonie's feeling right now? You don't think she might be scared?" Or something. Truth be told, the guard-candie didn't know Hynolonie too well, but that wasn't going to stop her retrieving the girl from Dsalth and P'rru's weyr.

P'rru rolls a shoulder. "Alright, say Dsalth is keeping secrets from me... how do we suppose we shall fetch Hynolonie?" he blinks between the pair expectantly. Loren blinks at Kinecha, again. "If you wanna weyrmate, you're supposed to be nice." Sagenod. "It doesn't work if you kidnap them." Another nod, this time more decisive, at P'rru. "Okay -- we should." Nod, nod.

"How?" Looking confused all of a sudden Kinecha blinks slowly at the brownrider, as she slowly turns her head from side to side. She knew that Dsalth probably wouldn't allow other dragons to land on his ledge (he hadn't when she'd been stuck there), and she couldn't see any other way to get to the ledge. "I dunno?" Defeat so easily? No wait, more coming; "tell Dsalth to bring her down? Order him?"

Loren pauses as her name's called from the stairs, scooping up her robe and inching that way. "On ... second thought, maybe I should finish my chores." Before she gets /more/ chores. "But you should give her back, P'rru. It's not nice to steal people." A sage nod, and Lo' wanders down the stairs.

P'rru shrugs again. "Let's try to convicnce him down then" he says almost defeatistly. "Come along, Kinecha" crumpling up from the chair he heads for the stairs.

Kinecha eyes P'rru, then the sleeping bronze of hers, then the doorway to the Bowl, "very well," she says, getting up and leaving the firelizard where he is. "I'll get 'im to bring 'er down," she mutters as she follows the brownrider.

P'rru wanders out through the little door all but hidden off to the side.

Ahah, so you found the little door that leads to a little ledge that leads to some teeny stairs that leads you out out out and eventually to...

P'rru clips to the Lakeside.

You go to the Beach.

Beach
Ancient dunes have been flattened by the endless parade of people and dragons that tramp northwest across the bowl, leaving a mere skiff of sand here along lake's beaten edge. Footprints litter the curve of beach, some left turns ago and caught frozen in the heavy clay earth near the water's edge. As the sun sets, shadows invade, creeping like fingers across the gently sloping ground and darkening the distant ledges on the far side of the lake.
To the north, dust rises from the redolent pens while the flattened disc of the main bowl is just a step to the northwest.
It is a spring afternoon.
Darting here and there are nine firelizards.
Brown Zenzorath and blue Wiranth are here.
You see Atticus and Red Fruit seedling here.
P'rru is here.

P'rru peers up at the weyr face, sheilding his eyes from the sun. "See that tail? I think that's his dangling from my ledge" he says, motioning to one halfway up the wall. "Dsalth!" he hollers, eyes shifting.

Meanwhile, Kinecha is inspecting the cliff-face, looking for handholds and the like. Maybe they (or she) could climb up there if Dsalth didn't want to come down with the Candidate. "Y'know, he'll have to bring her down eventually. We can't have her missing the Hatching." Though she seriously doubted that the brown would keep Lonie up there for so long.

P'rru chuckles "He'll tire of her soon enough, although she is as cute as a button don't you think?" he gives up, retiring to a boulder. "He'll come down when he's ready...in the meantime, tell me, how are you?" change of topic?

Very ingenious. Just change the subject, and turn it around on the guard-candie no less. "I'm fine, P'rru, just fine," Kinecha says, eyes still on that cliff-face, trying to decide if it was possible to climb it. Finally giving one quick shake of the head, she makes up her mind that it would be too dangerous. "Too many chores, though." But wasn't that the usual thing to gripe about? "'n I was made to participate in a prank. That is, I didn't really /do/ anything," she quickly explains, grimacing at P'rru, "I just handed over a container with spices.." See, she had nothing to do with it!

P'rru clears his throat "Ah, Damia will no doubt catch up with you- being one of the head cooks here afterall" he winks and settles back further. "I haven't seen you around with Reiko lately..whats happening there?"

Kinecha blinks. Slowly, the surprised look. "Reiko..." she begins, her voice low as she moves to a boulder, leaning against it, before continuing, "well, she can't be trusted." Shrug. There, that's all she had to say about it, really.

P'rru blinks rapidly, leaning forwards towards the candidate "She can't be trusted? Whyever not? I always thought she was wonderful..." Purr rather was taken with her actually. Klah-friend.

Kinecha snorts, crossing her in front of her in the classic defensive pose. "You haven't heard then?" she asks, lifting an eyebrow in mock surprise. "She's been seeing other people. And not just other women, other men too." Ohh, she could name names, and incidents, but she wouldn't sink to that level. And if you asked Reiko about the breakup, you'd probably get a whole different story as well. "So, she went her way, and I went my way." Shrug. And that's that. Period!

P'rru looks rather takenaback. "She's been seeing...who? Who has she been seeing, oh my dearest that must be awful- and I didn't know! Why didn't you tell me?" now Purr is getting all protective and worried. Gees, you'd think Kinecha was his daughter.

Kinecha kicks dirt. Well, something had to take the brunt of her agressiveness, and she wasn't going to kick P'rru, now was she? "I really shouldn't tell," she mutters, looking up at the brownrider, the fact that his dragon had done another kidnapping forgotten. "Wouldn't be fair." And Necha is one of the most upright people in the Weyr, right? Not the one to gossip about an ex-girlfriend and her new relations.

P'rru rolls his eyes "Wouldn't be fair? Kinecha, love, even Dsalth would want to know.." yes and then the dragon shall eat the guilty persons. "All this time, and candidacy and you've had to deal with it all..you poor thing" and with pity, the brownrider wraps a comforting arm around her shoulders.

Kinecha isn't going to cry. Nope! She's not the type. But she does lean her head against P'rru's comforting shoulder, giving off a slight sigh. "Of course 'salth would wanna know," she mutters, staring out over the lake, not really seeing the water. "Maybe you should ask Reiko who she's been seeing, I'm not sure I can keep count anymore..." She'd seen the other Candidate closely linked with more than just one other person.

P'rru gives her a squeeze "More than one? Oh I shall have words with her next time I see her, fancy, making you upset, love, like this?" incensed he sniffs haughtily. "Oh well after this whole mess of candidacy is over, I shall take you on a holiday perhaps. We could go somewhere snowy..err. Like Fort. I've friends at Fort.."

Kinecha shakes her head, taking it off the soft(?) shoulder. "No, don't tell 'er I spoke with you 'bout this," she says, glancing at the rider. Not that she feared any rebuttle by Reiko, but she just didn't want her to know that it pained her to lose the infirmary assistant as a girlfriend. "A holiday?" she asks, frowning.. "Well, as long as it's not down South."

P'rru chuckles "Of course, no-where near sun or sand eh?" frown lines reappear quickly though. "Well I wont ask her if you tell me at least one name..." he really does thrive on gossip. But it's all for good right?

Blackmail, eh? "I really shouldn't..." Kinecha begins, looking at P'rru down the length of her nose again. "But if you promise not to tell anyone? And get Dsalth to promise?" She knew the rider wouldn't be able to keep anything from his dragon, but could he also extract such a promise from the brown? Who'd forgotten his promise not to kidnap people..

P'rru lets his eyes shift. "Yes Dsalth will promise...although I haven't told him about what..doesn't matter he really only speaks to you anyway. I don't think he's taken that much interest in Reiko, aside from the fact he associated her with you" nod. Yes. He looks like he can be trusted.

But the dragon spoke with other dragons, did he not? But, giving a sigh and a curt nod, Kinecha spills the beans. "Well, the first one I saw her with was Niall.. He's some kind of a musician," she says, and shrug. So what if it was pretty apparent that Reiko seemed to have no interest in the man. In Necha's eyes that was just some way of luring him in, since it only increased /his/ efforts in flirting with Reiko.

P'rru purses his lips "Niall? I don't know him.." well of course Purr wouldn't. "Did she actually break up with you to see this Niall?"he runs with an idea, a few fingers scritching his stubbley chin.

Kinecha is fiddgeting now. Being questioned on such imtimate matters were not in her book of Favorite Things to Do. "No, not exactly," she mutters, breaking away from the rider, walking toward the water, arms clinging around her body. "We just sorta.. Stopped seeing each other." Spinning around to pin P'rru with a cool stare, she figures it's her turn to Change the Subject, "is Dsalth ever gonna bring 'Lonie back down?"

P'rru groans "Alright, alright, it doesnt seem like he's coming down..for now. But as soon as the sun moves off our ledge he'll head for the bowl and we can capture him there, m'dear" he stands up, stretching gently. "I should go and see Amalia anyway in the meantime.."

Kinecha nods slowly, looking at the rider through narrow slits of her eyes. "Just make sure he brings her down alright?" she says, stepping into the lawenforcing role again. Couldn't have dragons go around kidnapping people against their will, now could we? "You go see, Amalia, P'rru.. I'll be alright." And with that, she waves the rider off, turning back to her lake-watching.

P'rru peers expectantly up "He's coming down!" he says almost with a cheer. "See, Kinecha, there's nothing bad about him at all..he just needd to rest a little" and see that glowing pride reinstated on his face?

A shout waifs down from above: "HELLO DOWN THERE!!!"

Kinecha follows P'rru's glance, turning back to the rider as she's sure the dragon is coming. "Weren't you going to see Amalia?" she asks, though priority must be to rescue 'Lonie, right?

P'rru shakes his head "Oh in a moment, after we see that poor child safely on the ground..." at the call he hollers back up. "Lass! YOUR GOING TO BE FIIIIINE!"

Kinecha peers up again, head tilted to a side, eyes squinting. "GET THAT GIRL DOWN THIS INSTANCE, DSALTH!!" she shouts to the brown dragon, arms crossing in front of her chest againg. Dsalth listened to her orders, didn't he? Well, usually, right?

From Above: "OFCOURSE I"M GOING TO BE FINE!! I JUST WANT TO GET DOWN NOW!"

P'rru chuckles, cupping his hands around his mouth to yell back "MAKE DSALTH BRING YOU DOWN, PET!" and he nods, happily at Kinecha.

Kinecha glances at P'rru as he tells the Candidate to make Dsalth bring her down. Well, if it worked for Necha, why not 'Lonie? "JUST TELL 'IM THAT YOU WANT TO LEAVE," she shouts, bringing a hand up to shield against the glare of the sun. "He will bring her down, right?" she says, directed at the brownrider.

P'rru nods..and then blinks "Is that..G'deon heading to the ledge? Shards, that lazy good for nothing bag of bones won't bring her down himself. He says it's too warm to move" facepalm.

"G'deon?" Kinecha asks, frowning up at the incoming dragon. How did he find out about this. If that was why he was here at all. Shouting again, she leans her head back, "DSALTH!! YOU BETTER GET A MOVE ON AND BRING LONIE BACK DOWN HERE!!" So now she's getting angry with the brown dragon. Or at least, she's trying to sound as if she's angry with him.

P'rru begins pacing slowly "Lughead, just get up, you can go back to sleep later" he mutters. It is kinda embarassing. The weyrleader having to rescue a candidate your lazy dragon refuses to bring home.

Kinecha eyes P'rru's pacing, giving the brownrider a sympathetic smile then tries a different tactics, rather than yelling. Thinking directly at Dsalth (who knew if he'd hear her), she looks up at the ledge; 'please, 'salth, just bring 'er down. You're embarrassing, P'rru.' Even if the dragon /didn't/ hear her, it was still worth a try, right?

P'rru resumes pacing, shaking his head. Seemingly worried. "What are people going to think? I can't control my dragon when G'deon..the weyrleader..has to step in? I'll never be allowed near candidatesagain.." so he's exaggerating. Sure him.

Kinecha can't help smirking ever so slightly. P'rru wouldn't see it anyway for all he's worrying. Stepping into his path, she puts her hands on his shoulders, looking into his eyes. "Listen, P'rru.. It's not all that bad," she says, shaking her head a little, "G'deon won't blame you, and Dsalth /will/ bring Hynolonie back down.." Or he'll have to face me about it, is her unspoken words, as a glance goes up to the ledge, 'come down. Now!' she thinks to the brown again. 'And bring 'lonie with you' she adds just in case Dsalth would think to come down alone.

You sense that Dsalth tut tuts. A gentle umber musk <<You come /up/>>

P'rru softens, a smile for Kinecha. "Your a good girl" he says, visibly relaxing. "And your right. Nothing to worry about. Dsalth's got a few quirks, that all, what do they expect for an old coot anyway?"

"As if that's possible," Kinecha exclaims, staring up at the ledge again, then back at P'rru to give him a smile. Even if he /did/ call her a good girl. "I like you too, P'rru," she says, shifting her pose so her arm goes around his shoulders in a half-embrace. "And I'll personally speak up if anybody accuses /you/ of taking 'Lonie." And then another request goes up to Dsalth. 'C'mon, you lug-head.. Just get 'er down here.' Now she knew that he listened when she thought to him, there was no reason to shout.

P'rru smiles at the candidate, looking as happy as a pig in mud even if his dragon is b.a.d. "Dsalth says he shouldn't have to, considering Nylanth is bigger and younger than him. And capable of carrying Hynolonie down..." he trails off, eyes blank. More conversation.

Kinecha sighs, hanging her head, closing her eyes for a moment. Impossible old bag-of-bones. "Well, somebody better bring 'er down. One gets bored real easy up there." And if Necha got bored, think how soon a thirteen turn old would get restless?

P'rru nods "Oh yes...I'm trying to convince him...but he seems to be distracted, keeps telling me she was yelling and it made his head ache" suffering rider. Having to put up with that. "And it's not boring, how can it be with that view and the company?" this from the man who can spend 3 candlemarks on the ledge with Dsalth.

Kinecha eyes P'rru sideways, head tilting forward a bit, "I'd hate to tell you this, P'rru.. But being stuck on a ledge with no way out gets old real fast," she says, patting his shoulder before withdrawing her arm. Especially when you were used to being active most of the time. Which applied to both a guard and a thirteen turn old girl.

P'rru looks mock-shocked, but laugh lines magically appear at the corners of his eyes soon enough. "Yes well, when you get to my age, having a nice sit down is exciting enough" wink. Dsalth isn't interesting? Oh no!

Kinecha chuckles, leaning against her boulder again, casting another glance up at Dsalth's ledge. "Can we lure him to bring her down? Maybe with a promise of... Something?" she offers as a solution, her eyes falling back down on P'rru. "I mean. He can't just keep her up there forever?"

P'rru tweaks with an idea. "I know, Kinecha- SING-! Sing loud enough, and he may hear you!" ideas yay ideas.

Kinecha gapes, staring at P'rru as if she didn't believe what she just heard. "/No!/" Not even to rescue a fellow Candidate would she sing for P'rru. And it was probably /his/ idea too, not the dragon's. "I /will/ not sing!"

P'rru shrugs. "Alright then, if you can live with the knowledge a candidate missed the hatching simply because you wouldn't do one tiny favour for her.." guilt trip master, the brownrider sits back, smug as all.

Kinecha rolls her eyes, supressing an impulse to stick her tongue out at the brownrider. "You know as well as I do that that's not going to happen," she retorts, grinning at P'rru. "Not even Dsalth would keep anyone from missing the Hatching."

P'rru shrugs "Fine, but I shall tell G'deon that it's all your fault." he says haughtily, teasing her. "Dsalth himself couldn't get you to sing, eh?" what would? not even threat of becoming dragonfodder?

So now it was Necha's fault? After she offered to stand up for the brownrider, and say it wasn't /his/ fault? "You're not much of a friend, if you'd tell G'deon that!" But then she wasn't so sure Gids would believe P'rru, since she'd known the weyrleader since /he/ was a candidate. Ayup. And he was a friend too.

P'rru pouts. "That's not fair, Kinecha, all I ask is for one little lyric, a hum even, but no you deny me, deny my dragon" sniffle. He's laying it on thick that's for sure. He jerks his head upwards however suddenly "ARE YOU ALRIGHT UP THERE?" best to check.

"/No/ singing," Kinecha says. She'd stand fast on that point. The guard-candie doesn't ever sing, never did, never will. "If I knew any poetry I'd reciete(sp) that for you, but I don't, so I'm sorry, but you'll have to do without," she continues, sending out a plea for help to Dsalth. 'Please come down 'fore he forces me to /sing/. And don't forgot 'Lonie..'

You sense that Dsalth wheedles one word into your mind <<SING>>

P'rru grins "He's coming down, muttering something about Nylanth being big and lazy and not doing him a favour though" the brownrider's lips quirk, worried slightly before he waves up at the ledge.

Kinecha almost screams by now, fierce eyes turned at the ledge and an almost visible brown dragon's tail. "NO!" she calls out, setting will against will as she glares at P'rru, then lifts a surprised eyebrow at his words, features soon turning into satisfied folds. Another win for the guard-candie. No matter that Nylanth was given as the reason for Dsalth's decent, Necha still considered it a personal victory. "AND DON'T FORGET 'LONIE" she shouts, just to be sure the girl came down with the brown.

Dsalth clatters down from above.

Nylanth clatters down from above.

Dsalth swoops downwards from the ledge, pinstriped wings catching the breeze for a fast, if not easy, descent. He glides however, over his rider and another white knot. Almost smugly braying to them. He ain't setting foot on the ground yet!

Nylanth is more than happy to drop to the ground however, G'deon offering a wave as the bronze stretches his wings out one last time, then folds them to his sides. "Lovely afternoon to you," the rider calls over while sliding to the wet sand with a *plop*.

G'deon slides from Nylanth's neck and lands gently on the ground.

P'rru is a little embarassed, dragon misbehaving like this. And gritting his teeth as he wills Dsalth to finally land, he raises a hand "Afternoon, G'deon, fine day isn't it?" yeah /real/ fine day. But the wingsecond waves up at Hynolonie "Your hanging on aren't you pet?"

From his seat between pinstriped, stately neckridges Hynolonie kept her eyes on the ground for a while, ready to land and enjoy the freedom of a chore filled life again *groan* when Dsalth takes to racing along the bowl floor again. She laughs a little, but mostly just makes a 'Woh.." sound as the brown flies on and away from their targeted landing.

"G'deon," Kinecha says, giving the weyrleader a nod as he comes to the ground, glancing at Dsalth holding off his landing until P'rru commands it. A slight grumble escapes her throat as she stares down the brown, "took you long enough," she finally says to the dragon, looking up at Hynolonie. "You okay, 'Lonie?" So maybe she didn't usually /like/ kids, but Lonie was one of her fellow Candidates, right?

P'rru buries his head in both hands. "Kinecha.." he begins as Dsalth rounds about and banks up again, above them. "He says he won't land until you sing..." groan. Poor Hynolonie. Stranded. And she'll continue to live on Dsalth's neck unless her fellow candidate can help her out here. By singing up a storm.

"I.. Will.. Not.. Sing," Kinecha says, almost spitting as she pronounces the words, one by one, glaring back at Dsalth. "And /you/ can't make me!" A glance goes to G'deon for confirmation in that assessment. A dragon couldn't make her sing, could he? Even in a hostage situation..

G'deon leans against Nylanth lazily, with more than just a touch of weariness showing in the dark circles under his eyes. "Well... Dsalth /is/ stubborn like that at times. It might be the only way." He suddenly grins, crossing his arms snuggly. "I might just have to stand here 'til you do."

From his seat between pinstriped, stately neckridges Hynolonie holds on tight to Dsalth and just stares down at the ground as they pass once. .then twice. She sighs.. and just feels like taking a nap up there. Kinecha was never going to sing, and she was never going to be on the ground again. She smiles. At least a dragon talked to her...

P'rru shakes his fist at Dsalth. "Get down right now before that poor girl falls right off your neck!" he glares back at Kinecha. "She's not singing, and it's getting chilly. Come down at once!" and he stamps his foot for effect. Still Dsalth wings gently around above them. "G'deon, make that dratted guard sing!"

True. Necha was never going to sing, and Dsalth couldn't hang onto his hostage forever, now could he? Glaring at P'rru, then G'deon she shakes her head, slowly for effect, holding up her hands in denial. "Face it, Dsalth, P'rru. You'll never hear me /sing/!" Never ever. She'd rather get lost ::between:: than sing.

G'deon just helplessly shrugs while trying to cover a yawn with one hand. "Well... either Kinecha sings, or Dsalth gives in... or Dsalth falls asleep in the air and dumps Hynolonie in the lake." He peers up at the tiny passenger and shouts, "Lonie, you can swim, right?"

From his seat between pinstriped, stately neckridges Hynolonie only hears the word swim as she swoops by again, considering he wasn't even yelling or anything. She cups her hands around her mouth and shouts back down to him. "YOU WANT ME TO.. WHAT? SWIM? IN THE AIR?" She shrugs and peers down at him again, not understanding.

Dsalth gives in. If only because he's getting tired. He lands with a swoop, stirring up wet clods of sand towards Kinecha. Mwah. And sorrel shoulders dropp to allow Hynolonie to dismount. P'rru clips forwards,a heavy whump delivered to his dragon's flank. "When we get back to the weyr, lughead..oooooohhhh"

Dsalth watches with interest as Hynolonie descends carefully G'deon yawns again as he runs a critical eye over Hynolonie, making sure the Candidate wasn't injured. And if she was... "You know, P'rru, he's your lifemate and all, not mine but..." No, never mind. The bronzer can't form complete sentences today.

"Dsalth!" Kinecha shouts, as she gets plastered with wet sand. "You silly wherry-head," she continues, taking one or two steps toward the brown, lightening in her eyes as she stares down the dragon. Stopping dead in her tracks, she thinks twice about it, throwing up her hands, and turning a decisive back to Dsalth and his lifemate.

Hynolonie stands there, wide-eyed and far from bushy-tailed. Would you believe that the last day of sleeping and flying has made her more tired than all the other days of chores all put together? She sighs, and staggers over to where Kinecha and G'deon are, putting a little space between herself and Dsalth. Nice dragon, but a tad unpredicable.

P'rru is all red faced and apologetic. "I'm so sorry pet...yes I know Gids, I should control him more..but he's such a coot, keeping secrets. I didn't even know he'd taken Hynolonie until I was told this morning..." blink blink. Dsalth is innocent, and begins scratching his head with his backfoot.

Hynolonie smiles a little softly as she turns back to teh dragon and his rider. She'd usually think of it the other way, but since she's experienced how Dsalth acts.... "YOu're welcome, but my name is Lonie." She nods and grins.. reaching out to pat him once more. She sighs.. and smiles at P'rru. "Its ok. He took good care of me, even though he didn't let me do what i wanted."

P'rru wraps his hand around a headknob, teeth clenched. "Oh I'm sure he did pet..but we really should get back to the weyr..I've a few words to have with Dsalth.." and the brownrider turns away, mumbling "You could have at least told me you had someone up there! Bet the place was a mess, 'salth, and if she's eaten all my bubblies while I was gone..." mumble mumble.

P'rru swings up to ease himself between defined neckridges

Dsalth leaps into flight, kicking up sand.

G'deon peers closely again from one candidate to the other, finally pushing off from his own lifemate to take another step towards the two. "You sure you're all right, Lonie?" he asks, placing a quick, encouraging squeeze on the girl's shoulder before turning to Kinecha. "And what about you?" he adds, head tilting just a bit as he studies the woman for a long moment.

Kinecha turns her head ever so slightly, to look over her shoulder at Dsalth as he takes off. Almost unforgivable what he did, wasn't it? Though she couldn't remember anymore how many times she'd forgiven the dragon for what he'd done. With Lonie safely on the ground and no one else being napped by the brown, Necha's job was done and she would've disappeared if it wasn't for G'deon interrupting her escape with a question. "I'm good. Dsalth just bothers me with his stubborness sometimes," she says with a shrug of a shoulder.

Hynolonie nods.. and leans a little toward G'deon when he squeezes her shoulder. "Well, Honestly? I'm tired. And, its weird to fly with out straps, especially when you think that you're not going to be flying at all.." She yawns, blinks and rubs her eyes. "how's you?"

G'deon smiles softly and nods, his arm going around Lonie's shoulders for half a hug as he winks down at her. "It's not easy riding such a big dragon without straps, is it? But you came out all right." Let's not discuss what else could have happened. And as for Dsalth... stubborness doesn't /begin/ to cover it." He barely stops a yawn, blinking back watery eyes for a moment. "Shells, I could go for some klah... and a nap."

Kinecha grimaces as G'deon mentions klah, and feels obligated to warn him against the klah from the kitchens. "Don't drink the stuff in the living caverns..." she says, eyeing the weyrleader with a half-guilty look on her face. Having giving amble warning to G'deon, she attempts an exit, making her way slowly toward the central bowl.

Hynolonie smiles through her equally teared up eyes. "Oh.. I think i might just skip the bath and head straight for the nap." Yes.. She could very well see what could have happened to her during this last little interlude. Areiah drilled that much into her as she was growing up. She wraps both arms around G'deon's waist and hugs him back as Kinecha disappears. Ohh.. candidates got into the food? She was definately going to bed.

You go to the Central Bowl.

Subject: Rescue!

Dsalth was enjoying his sun, and didn't want to be disturbed by Hynolonie and bother delivering her home. So everyone's favourite weyrleader, who happened to be in the area, dropped by. And shock horror, Nylanth managed to convince the old brown fart to actually get up! But all was not over, because Dsalth refused to land until Kinecha sang for him! He had his hostage (poor Lonie) but it was a stand-off. And eventually he gave in <<My wings /were/ getting tired>> and Lonie finally reaches land again.
No-one can make Kinecha sing it seems, not even cute as a button hostage like Hynolonie. Least she came back well-fed.
