Thanks for the time you put into this site it looks great. I currently own a 1972 Stage 1 basket case, a 72 350 GS loaded with options,and a 71 Skylark Custom Convertible. I have contemplated getting a 70 X with the incorrect motor to house my 1970 Proto ype "STAGE III" {YES 3!} four bolt main block. Only two of these blocks were ever built according to Dennis Manner of Buick Motor Divisions Stage 1 program. It came with the equally rare Stage 3 heads in a Tunnel port design. The heads were long gone whe I located the block. According to the retired racer who ran this beast it had a sheetmetal two four intake, 13 to 1 compression and a Gilmore oiling system which ran via a pully off the .My block is cast "70" and "X" and "4". 1970 build date, Experi ental, and Four Bolt Main caps.This block has solid thicker webbing and of course the added strength of never available to the general public, Four Bolt Mains. If it had not been for the gas shortages just look at what the Stage III's might have done for the GRAN SPORTS image{not that it's bad now} WOW!Never stamped for a car it would be the Ultimate addition to any GS or GSX particularly if it was missing it's original block. Oh well, all I need to do now is finish the three I have now and then find a GS . That's gonnMay ta happen "quick". Hope you all enjoyed what should be new information for many. Yes it's true .Keep going fast with Class!!!

My dad has a 1970 GSX. Its saturn yellow with a 4-spd and a stage-1. My brother has 2 68 GSs and a 69 GS, and I have a 68 GS. The GSX is definitely the fastest car I've ever driven. People dont realize that Buick made performance cars and they're blown a ay when they realize that the car that just dusted them is a Buick. Awsome site.

The Buick GSX will be remembered as one of the most unde automobiles of the past millenium. The 370 HP Stage I was easily a match for the vaunted 450 HP LS-6 Chevelle and 426 Hemi cars. There are many accounts of worked Electra 225's outrunning wedg powered GTX, Cuda, and other cars. Why are we so surprised when a well built 30 over GSX or GS beats a hemi or a 500 cube chevy?

Just had to check it out here. Have memories as a kid. My dad worked at a Buick dealership and one of the salesman had a 70 GSX as a strator car. They upped it to a stage three package if my memory serves me right (daddy ordered the parts from Buick) and they raced it around here. The salesman won all kind of trophys and locally didn't nobody beat him. Just thought I would add my two cents.

Working on resto of non-matching numbers car. Trying to get back to as original as possible. Got a case of the "while I'm at its" and went further than originally planned! Hope to get ready for National Trails. For 70 GSX w/air: Do need the bracket that is used to adjust the alternator. Car has A/C. Bracket mounts between the water pump and A/C compressor top bracket. P/N 1387139. Bracket should be stamped with full P/N or just 139. If anyone has an extra let me know your terms. Condition not too important if it is fairly straight. Thanks. Great website!!
