Thursday 9/8/05 - Fox Sports Grill, Shopping, Swimming, San Felipe's
Sara and I flew out of O'Hare and arrived in Phoenix around 10:30 am. Kelly flew in from Austin, TX after visiting her brother. Kara picked us up from the airport and we went to her apartment in Scottsdale. We had lunch at Fox Sports Grill and then did some shopping at Kierland Commons. It was pretty hot out, but the misters helped as well as the air conditioned stores. We stopped and got pedicures on the way home which was wonderful after walking around. Then we went swimming at Kara's apartment - it was perfect weather. We had dinner and margaritas at a mexican restaurant called San Felipe's. During dinner I got a call that Craig's sister, Angel's, water broke and she had Jillian Renee that evening via c-section. She weighs 6 lbs 2 oz and both Angel and Jillian were doing well.
Friday 9/9/05 - Shopping, Matt's apartment, Gordon Biersch, Devil's Martini
Kara went to work out while we slept in and her and Kelly brought us back Einstein's bagels for breakfast. We went to see one of the houses that Kara's brother, John, had built. It sold for $3 Million and was absolutely amazing. What a great job! Then we met Kara's sister-in-law, Kathleen, and her niece, Marley, at Pita Jungle for lunch. We had some yummy hummus and I got a falafel. Then we did some shopping at Desert Ridge.
That evening we went to my brother, Matt's, apartment in Tempe. Him and his roommate are both sleeping on air mattresses and have a tv room set up with lawn chairs. We took Matt to dinner at Gordon Biersch in downtown Tempe. Then we went to Devil's Martini in Downtown Scottsdale. It was a really neat bar, but really loud inside and not a huge crowd.
Saturday 9/10/05 - Movie, Bahama Breeze, Swimming, Kona Grill, Jesterz
Kara got up to run 20 miles for her marathon training. Sara, Kelly and I went to Einstein's Bagels for breakfast. We went to see the movie, Broken Flowers, which I do not recommend. Then we had lunch at Bahama Breeze. Once again, another delicious meal. We went back to Kara's to go swimming and were joined by Kara's brother, John, and her niece, Marley. Marley is so cute!
After learning that Iowa lost to Iowa State (Boo!), we had dinner at Kona Grill in the Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale. Kelly and I had pizza and Sara and Kara had sushi which Sara was extremely excited about. We got a brownie to share and I'm not kidding it was the biggest brownie I'd ever seen - it was more like a 6x6 cake! Then we went to Jester'Z Improv which was very entertaining.
Sunday 9/11/05
We woke up around 6:00 am to go to the airport to fly home.
Kara - Thanks for everything - including giving up your bed for the preggo! Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the beautiful mountains and scenery, and we couldn't go hiking since I'm 30 weeks pregnant! But it was a great weekend with the girls and enjoyed all the yummy food!
