GENERAL NEWS/ROUNDTABLE

**NORTHERN STAR** is the new name for the former Indian Head and Viking Councils.

All Roundtable information can be views online at http://roundtable.northernstarbsa.org

For all OA Scouts:

****************

Help plan this Springs Camporee. The next meeting is Thursday February 2nd and Jay will drive.

He could use a couple of guys. With regards to the Camporee being on the first weekend in May, our Troop will not be going to Phillippo because we are camping the second weekend in May.

The OA Winter Event is scheduled for Saturday March 11th. There is a dinner followed by a "cool" speaker. This is an all night lock-in with games and pizza. More information to come.

NOAC. This is like the National Jamboree, but for OA guys only. It is the last week in July at Michigan State in Lansing, Mi. You will live in dorms for a week, attend ceremonial dancing, learn advanced skills(way beyond knot tieing, compass work etc.). There will be PATCH TRADING and much more. For more information go to http://event.oa-bsa.org/ . Highly recommended if you have not gone before. Keep in mind you are still a youth OA member until you turn 21.

*****************

A reminder that there is a new requirement for First Class rank which is not printed in your scout books. You need to speak to a non-scout or inactive scout about what our Troop does and why they should join or get back into scouting. Bringing them to a campout or other Troop activities would be showing them and count toward the requirement.

There is a Klondike derby on Saturday February 4th at Phillipo. It is from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Would need at least 5 kids to go. When we have participated in the past, we have taken first place.

On Saturday May 20th there is an all day event at Valleyfair for all NorthernStar Boy scouts. Discounted tickets will be available.

Kelan reported on our wreath sales. We had around $171,000.00 in sales with costs around $153,000.00. The Troop made about $18,500.00. There were 16 scouts that sold over $500.00 in the first month and received $40.00 as an incentive. Congratulations to the following scouts who earned the $40.00. Chris D., Jeremy & Logan D., Eric G., Greg & Steve J., Jack & Ted K., Chris No., Chris Ny., Nick P., Thomas P., Andrew S., Thomas S., Tyler T. and Joe W.

SCOUTMASTER REPORT

There was mentioned about having the Raptor Center come in on a Monday night for a Troop meeting. It would be about $150.00.

The Leader Essentials and Session 1 was on 1/21/06 with another one scheduled for 3/25/06. Session 2 is scheduled for 4/20/06 and Session 3 is scheduled for 4/27/06, both in the evenings. The Outdoor Leader Training is scheduled the weekend of 5/5/06-5/07/06 at Camp Phillippo.

The Troop will pick up the registration fee for those adults interested. The Troop has the registration forms.
