**NORTHERN STAR** is the new name for the former Indian Head and Viking Councils.

All Roundtable information can be views online at http://roundtable.northernstarbsa.org/

We need an OA Representative. This person will help coordinate with other OA's in the Troop. You will need to come to a Thursday District Roundtable meeting to get OA information. There will also be a lodge dinner banquet for past and new OA's on Friday November 11th at the Medina Entertainment Center.

There will be a Jamboree on the air at Cleary Lake Park this Saturday October 15th. Ham Radio operators. $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for scouts.

There is a New Leader Training class being held on Saturday October 22 at Christ The King Lutheran Church starting a 9:00am. There is also a Youth Protection class beginning at 7:30am for those needing to take this class.

With regards to advancements:

Life to Eagle has changed a little. You will need everything, not just the application and project work. All your Eagle information will need to be in a 3 ring binder. There will be a Regional Expo. Tuesday October 25th for scouts wanting to learn what they need to get from Life to Eagle. Also, each troop should have a Eagle coach and Ed has volunteered to be the coach.

Merit Badge counselors wishing to sign-up will use up the existing forms until the Northern Star Council creates a new form.

A University of Scouting day will be held on Saturday October 29th from 8:30am to 5:00pm at Park Center High School. If you are interested, contact Jay for more information and sign-up form(s). Also on Saturday October 29th, there is a GPS Rifle Shooting day at Stearns. See Jay if interested.

SCOUTMASTER REPORT

Ross mentioned the issue with recruiting new scouts.

Tom Jonas will coordinate with some troop adults on contacting various cub scout packs near us. Specifically, if there are any 2nd year webelos interested in joining our troop. The adult volunteer would also try to make it to one pack committee meeting. We would invite the interested scouts to a few troop events. One idea being talked about is our November campout. Have the scout come out on Saturday for lunch and use the rifle range in the afternoon. Another event is the ultimate frisbee event scheduled for Monday December 5th.

Ed mentioned that there is a new 1st class requirement starting after June 1st 2006 dealing with recruiting. A scout working on his 1st Class rank will need to work with a scout or non-scout to see if they are interested in joining Boy Scouts.

CAMPING

AT EVERY CAMPOUT------BRING YOUR BOOKS TO BE SIGNED OFF!!!!

The November campout is at Philippo near Cannon Falls. There is a scout rifle range we will use on Saturday.
