The troop is exploring new ideas for service projects around the community. It has been suggested that we help with elderly homeowners assisting in chores and yard work. Please ask your church if they have names of elderly needing assistance and bring them to one of the Scoutmasters or Kathy Burnside.

The troop is looking at a Father/Son campout in February at the Isaac Walton League site on Bush Lake with a parent steak fry on the Saturday night. If you are interested, please express this to one of the Scoutmasters. We always need parent supervision on campouts.

We welcome the donation of all new edition Merit Badge books. Check around the house and bring them to a meeting. The Librarian will be organizing the books and removing the outdated ones.

The National Scout Jamboree will be in 2005 at Ft AP Hill, VA from 7/25- 8/03/05. In addition a week visit to Washington DC is planned starting 7/19/03. Any scout interested must meet these requirements by 7/1/05: completed 6th Grade, be age 12,& a 1st Class Scout. The cost is approximately $1700.00. We will need parent involvement. If interested, please see a Scoutmaster.

Camping and High Adventures

As well as the Scout Jamboree in summer of 2005 the troop is considering offering Sea Base too. We need a minimum of 8 people including two adult supervisors. We expect the cost would be between $500-800 and the minimum age would be 14. If interested, please contact one of the Scoutmasters so we can get a rough count.

We are also looking at mini-high adventures over a long weekend in Northern Minnesota which could include hiking along Lake Superior, canoeing in Boundary Waters, exploring the sea caves, white water rafting etc. We need adult interest in such activities before planning can begin.

At the December 8 meeting.....we will have a breakout for parents interested in High Adventures. Please consider attending.

We are thinking of changing summer camps for next summer and going to a highly rated Scout Camp near Rhinelander WI, Camp Tesomas. The camp offers all of the merit badges found at Many Point and more. The councilors are all highly rated. The cost is comparable and it is closer....no 5-hour drive time! Al Mann is investigating possible dates for the troop. If you have Internet access the website for the camp is: http://www.tesomas.com/
