Frequently Asked Qestions
Can we drink the water ? You never know the quality of the water that comes from the wells at the campgrounds. So instead of having to carry bottled water, I have installed a water filter system at the sink. This is one of the best water filters available and is certified to federal "purification" standard against microorganisms, including cryptosporidia and giardia, bacteria, viruses, chemicals, foul tastes, odors and discoloration.
Tell me about LP ? The RV has a 51lb or 12 gallons tank. LP is used for the stove/oven, water heater, furnace and refrigerator (will also run on AC). The tanks used for the typical gas grill are 20lb, so you have over two times the capacity. LP devices have a open flames, so turn off all LP devices when at gas stations ! LP be can be refilled a majority of gas stations outside of metro areas, look for the large sliver tank. LP tank fueling is not "do-it-yourself", the gas station will always do it for you. The LP gauge inside the coach is rather inaccurate, you can get a better idea of tank level from the gauge on the tank.
Can I tow ? Yes. Majestic RV charges a fee of $25 for the draw bar. The RV's has a Class II hitch, 3500lb/300lb tongue weight limit The RV has a GCWR of 20,000 so it can tow 5000 lbs but is limited by the hitch. Ford states that all trailers over 1000lbs have brakes and most states have laws that are either 1000lbs or 1500lbs. Majestic RV also rents car dollies for $25 per day with rental and stock trailers for $25 per day with rental.
Can I use it in the winter? Yes, but with limitations. While the RV and its holding tanks are heated, it does not have much insulation and when it is cold, the heater might run continuously to keep the RV warm, limiting LP and battery range. You can choose to keep the RV water system winterized, thus not using the water supply, so you can turn off or down the heat when you are not in the RV. If you are taking the RV south in the winter, we will have the heat on when you pick it up and just plan to drive to warmer places before you turn off the heater.
Are you going to sell your RV ? Yes. Since "new" RVs rent much better, I will sell the RV in either the fall of 2003 or the spring of 2004 and purchase a new RV. If you think you might be interested here are some information: - I expect the RV to have somewhere between 50-60K miles. - I have a Service Agreement for the power train and coach for 7 years or 100K miles that is transferable. - I estimate the resale value will be around $40K, new this RV lists at $70K. So you will have a less then 3 year old RV that has been professionally maintained, with higher then normal mileage, but will still have 4 years and 40-50K left on the extended warranty. If interested, you can contact me, Mike Gove, at [email protected]
Height, weight and weight stations? The RV is a little under 12' tall, is 32'3" long and will weigh, with people, fluids and stuff about 14,000lbs. You do not have to stop a weigh stations, those are for commercial traffic only. The RV does have weight limitations. You have about 1,400 lbs of people, food and stuff you can take before you reach the GVWR rating of 14,050. When loading the RV, try to place the heavy stuff in front of the rear axle so the weight is spread between the axles.
