Emma's Bio
HOME
Emma is a beautiful contemporary folk song writer.  Her songs driven from her heart, full of emotion and passion for social justice.   Emma's voice sounds like a combination of Alanis Morriset, Ani Di franco, and Madeline Hudson.  Her songs are expressive and unique.

Emma grew up on the Central coast of NSW.  Begun writing songs at the age of 16.  Emma's first performance was at the Central Coast Brackets and Jam age 19 in the trio band "universal" which Emma wrote all the songs for as well as sang and played the acoustic guitar.  Universal was so well received from the audience that the B&J organisers invited them to play at the 1999 Belong festival that they were organising.

In 2000 Emma tied the knot with universal packed in her job, packed her bags and left the Central Coast to cure her itchy feet.  Emma then joined the historical peace walk that walked from Lake Eyre (central Australia) to Sydney carrying the peace fire , to end the genocide war on Aboriginal people and stop the destruction of the land.  During the duration of the walk and the time spent in Sydney Emma played at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Victoria park Sydney and Kurnell Botany Bay.  In a series of non-violent movement to support Aboriginal Sovereignty.  Emma then continued to travel in her van,  which brought her to Adelaide.  It didn't take long for Emma to fall in love with Adelaide  and Adelaide to fall in love with Emma, and for the next 2 years Emma called Adeliade her home,  While Emma was in Adelaide she played solo shows at the Folk Centre, the Tandanya cafe.  As well as numerous benefite gigs for social and environmental groups, including Greenpeace, Keepers For Lake Eyre and the pro peace (anti war) protests. Emma also played at the Reclaim the Mullet concerts, which were held in 3 consecutive weekends during the Adeliade Fringe festival.  And helped organise the Fire for Water festival which was a festival raising money for the anti nuclear movement in South Australia  As well as solo show Emma played in a duo with Adelaides singer songwriter Gary under the name of 'Gazza and Ezmay'.  As well as backing vocals in a Nunga rock/reggae band 'Sacred Land'.

In 2003 age 23 Emma moved back to the Central Coasat of NSW the place of her birth and begun studying contemporary music.
