It is my desire to secure a position as an English Language Arts teacher where I can use my background in the fields of Literature, Composition, and Education in the classroom to implement an effective and enlightening curriculum.

      Completed coursework concerning the pedagogical, developmental, and theoretical concerns applicable to the role of an English Language Arts teacher.

      Completed a graduate level degree that focused on the subject of teaching writing from practical, theoretical, and research perspectives.

Fall 2006                               Student Teaching (English 11 and English 9)                    Riverhead High School

      Planned and implemented units of study on Hamlet and A Raisin in the Sun.

      Differentiated instruction for Honors, Regents, and Inclusion classes.

      Utilized technology to supplement curriculum.  This included creating and maintaining a class website, creating a collaborative wiki, using film clips for critical analysis, and projecting critical images and text to compliment class discussions.

      Provided individualized education for students in reading, writing, and Math.

      Prepared students for the SAT, English Regents, and TACHS tests.

 

2006-Present          Assistant Educator/Counselor: Cornell Cooperative Extension       Yaphank, NY

      Assisted educator on outreach programs for youth.

      Worked closely with students to reinforce learning with hands on lab experiences.

      Planned and implemented a two week educational camp for students entering 2^nd through 6^th grade.
