IKANA

Territory: Ikana Plateau, Ikana Graveyard, Ikana Valley     Leader: King of Ikana

One of the three Human Races, the Ikana live to the East of Termina Field, in the Ikana Valley and Plateau. Everything in the rocky, mountainous terrain of the kingdom of Ikana is considered territory of the Ikana. The Ikanan civilization thrived when Termina first was inhabited, and controlled much of the land. However, after centuries of reign, the kingdom fell and until recently there were merely ruins symbolizing the past. However, after the events in Majora's Mask, descendants of the Ikana gathered to restore the kingdom, believing their race can once again come into power.

The three main areas of the Ikanan Kingdom are the Ikana Plateau, Ikana Valley, and Ikana Graveyard. The Ikana Plateau is where most of the people live, as well as where the Ikana Castle and Ikana Fortress rest. Most people prefer to live here because it is the safest, as well as being close to important Ikanan landmarks. Such landmarks include those mentioned previously as well as the Stone Towers, Music Box House, and the Well. With the return of the Ikana to this area, Ikana Castle has been restored. The Music Bow House is a plae of research, and to boost spirits, plays tunes from time to time. The most notable place for the common Ikanan is the spirit pool, where the undead are revitilized after falling in battle.

The Ikana Valley includes Ikana Road (connecting Ikana Plateau, Ikana Graveyard, and Termina Field) as well as the river below Ikana Plateau. This place is rather desolate, through the fertile land near the river is another good place to live. The river normally connects to the Southern Swamp, but now an avalanche has blocked the path and only enough water can get by as to not flood the valley. However, if a friendly Goron used a Powder Keg to clear the path, it would be easy access to the Southern Swamp.

Finally, the Ikana Graveyard is the last of the areas. This is easy to access from Ikana Road, and is, well, a graveyard. There are some nice grasses here, as well as a large underground tomb and house for the gravekeeper. This is a mysterious place, especially at night.

The Ikana probably have the best defenses out of all the races, most of it natural. Not only are the paths narrow and few, but they are commonly very steep. On the Ikana Road, a large cliffside seperates the road from the entrance to the river. However, the best defense is before the Plateau. The cliffside here is straight-up, and getting up it will require serious climbing or Hookshot skills. To improve the defense even more, a river flows at the bottom, making scaling the cliff even harder. If an army did make it up the cliff, the people could retreat into the strong, heavily fortified Ikana Castle. These defenses are astounding, and very hard to overcome.

The most unique feature of the Ikana is that they usually will not battle themselves. Instead, Ikanan warriors control the undead. This costs non-weapon skill points, but the Ikana have plenty to spare. There are four different Undead characters for the Ikana to control: Stalchild, Garo, Poe, and Garo Master. The Stalchild is the weakest, and not very powerful. The Garo is quick, but not incredibly strong. The Poe is somewhat powerful though weak, but has the incredible ability to disappear every other turn. The Garo Master is the most powerful, and is very fast. It is said that the legendary Stalfos may be controlled to, but no Ikana has learned how to use it. These undead characters go into battle instead of the Ikana, and will attack enemies. If killed, they will transport back to the Spirit Pool on the Ikana Plateau, where they will regenerate after two days. The main weakness of the undead is that a Light Arrow will fall one instantly. However, the Light Arrows are controlled by the Ikana, and unless some get out, this won't happen.

The Ikana play the Ocarina, like other human races, but are looking for a new instrument other than the popular Terminian item to express their individuality. The Ikana know Songs such as the Song of Storms, used to put out fires and grow plants and the Elegy of Emptiness, which will create a clone that stays in the position of the person when playing until they call it off. The Ikana King can also learn how to use Sharp's Melody of Death, which will cause an opponent's Evasiveness Score to reduce by 1 every round while played (they must be somewhat close). Masks controlled by the Ikana include the Gibdo mask, used to talk to the Gibdo's living underneath the well (sometimes asking for their help in battle), the Stone Mask, which conceals the user, and the Captain's Mask, which allows the user to cammand five Stalchild at once.

The Ikana love to eat Octorok meat, the species being plentiful in the river below Ikana Plateau. They prefer to only eat the meat from the body, as this is the tastiest.

The Ikana may use Weapons such as the Spear, Horseback Spear, Short Bow, Long Bow, Elemental Bow, and the legendary Great Fairy's Sword and Hero's Bow. Because their weapon selection is limited and because the Ikana are not skilled at using weapons, they prefer to control the undead. Weapons are not the Ikanan's forte, but they are skilled in non-weapon things.

It takes 1 turn to hookshot up the steep cliff in Ikana Road, and 2 turns to hookshot up the cliff to Ikana Castle (1 turn to cross the river). Gorons can use 3 Powder Kegs to clear sections of the rock and make slopes suitable for rolling up. If a wall is placed at the top of these locations, it will take an extra turn to get to the top of the wall.
