Live from Salt Lake City, Utah, MMP WrestleFest is on the air for it's
second day of competition! The Delta Center is filled to capacity with fans hungry for tonight's
outstanding lineup! Commentators Jerry Wood and Ray Brewer are at ringside.
Wood: Welcome, everyone, to Salt Lake City and the second night of
action as we proceed down the line of the Parade of Champions! I'm Jerry Wood alongside
Ray Brewer where tonight we hope to see a little more competition out of the world and
universal championship brackets after the two disgraces we saw last night in Seattle.
Brewer: I don't think 'disgrace' is necessarily the right word to use in this situation, Wood.
Seems a little more like careful planning to me. The Regulator knew that he still had the extreme
title gauntlet to go through, and that he was already set for the Four Corners of Death Match
tomorrow night in St. Louis. Handing the title over to Korso might have been a smart move.
Now at least this way, according to Cooper's logic, there is a better chance for the title to
remain in The Syndicate through this event if they have a fresh man defending the belt. The same
thing must have been going through the mind of The Bootlegger and Virus Richards when they
scripted last night's so-called match for the universal title. When Bootlegger was knocked out of
the Survivor's Cup rumble last night, he realized that he would not be competing in St. Louis, but
that Virus Richards was scheduled to be in a the ring with some top talent tonight. And when
you consider the fact that The Bootlegger is unbeaten in his career against Clay Moore while
Virus lost to Moore the only time the two ever met one-on-one, The Syndicate probably figured
that this was the best course of action.
Wood: As you've mentioned, Ray, The Regulator did qualify for the finals of the Survivor's Cup
Challenge, to take place tomorrow night in St. Louis. The Masked Lard also won his rumble to
advance to that big match-up, where the winner will be awarded a shot at the world title on
Saturday Night Slams on June 12. We've got the final two rumbles set to take place here
tonight, but we open things up with the only new champions crowned last night, aside from John
Korso that is, in action with their belts on the line. Harbinger and The Destroyer put the tag titles
on the line against West Law and Damien Jentz. Let's go to the ring to get things underway here
in Utah!
MMP Tag Team Championship Match
HARBINGER & THE
DESTROYER (C) vs. WEST LAW & DAMIEN JENTZ
The new tag team champions were joined at ringside by a swarm of The Cult
Master's faithful followers, all wearing identical dress. Law and Jentz were waiting in the ring on
the champions, receiving extensive instructions from the referee. The referee seemed as if he
was creating a distraction more than he was instructing Law and Jentz, giving Destroyer the
chance to get the first shot in, a crushing forearm blow that dazed Jentz that was soon followed
by a big clothesline that put the former tag champ down hard. Looking more surprised than
injured, Jentz pulled himself back to his feet and went back after the big man. Destroyer went
for a second clothesline, but Jentz ducked and jumped up on his opponent's back, applying a
sleeperhold. Destroyer seemed to be fading, but he remained on his feet. Jentz then shifted his
attack, slapping a nerve hold on Destroyer's neck and stepping on the back of his knee to force
him down to the canvas. With the big man down, Jentz reached over and tagged in West Law,
and the two men immediately started double-teaming the massive man who later tonight would
defend the extreme championship. Law stomped away on Destroyer while the referee ushered
Jentz to the outside. The challengers looked to have everything well in control in the early going.
Law nailed an elbowdrop across his opponent's knee before slapping on a leg grapevine.
Destroyer shouted in pain as Law laid back, reaching out towards his corner where Jentz
grabbed onto his partner's hands, adding additional pressure to Destroyer's leg. The referee
ordered Jentz to break it up, but the man once known as "The Demented" xXx ignored the
official's urgings. Harbinger then decided to take things into his own hands, running to the other
side of the ring and nailing Jentz with a dropkick to the head that knocked Jentz off the apron,
breaking the hold. Now the referee was forced to move Harbinger back to the corner, opening
another opportunity for the challengers. Jentz grabbed a steel chair from the timekeeper's table
at ringside and passed it in to Law. Law turned to nail Destroyer with the weapon, but the
referee stepped in between the two and wrestled the chair away. Law and the official got into a
heated argument, and while West Law's attention was diverted, Destroyer made his way to the
corner and tagged in Harbinger. Harbinger came in quickly, jumping on Law's back and biting
him on the side of the neck. Jentz jumped in to pull Harbinger off, drawing Destroyer back into
the ring, making the match into a four-man free for all. Harbinger nailed Jentz with a spear
tackle as Destroyer clotheslined Law over the top to the floor. The big man followed Law out,
putting him in a bearhug and ramming him against the ringpost as Harbinger went to the top rope.
As Jentz made it back to his feet, Harbinger came off the top and nailed The Omen!!! Hooking
the leg, Harbinger covered Jentz for the pin to win the abbreviated gauntlet for his
team.
Wood: Harbinger and Destroyer retain the titles here in Salt Lake City, and
with yesterday's news that Super Cupid and Ouija Lullabye are boycotting the event, they will
survive the gauntlet as the tag team champions.
Brewer: I'm sure Harbinger and Destroyer would have preferred to have Cupid and Ouija in that
final round, but when they look at the big picture, they have to be happy with the way this series
went. Harbinger got his precious belt back, and Destroyer has looked dominant through the first
one day and one match. I don't know if anyone is going to be able to slow him down. His next
test will come later tonight in the Survivor's Cup rumble against such stars as Scott Worth, Virus
Richards, and Clay Moore.
Wood: Now The Cult is guaranteed to leave this event with at least one championship, their
leader will try to match the accomplishment of his followers. The Cult Master challenges for the
television championship against Wang Chen next, so let's go back to the ring!
MMP Television Championship Match
"THE CONMAN"
WANG CHEN (C) vs. THE CULT MASTER
The Cult Master was lead to the ring by a swarm of his loyal followers, and
he had a look of determination in his eye that hadn't been there in quite some time. Chen was
joined by "Wildcard" Sean Williams and Charlie Hustler, both keeping a lookout, hoping to
avoid another sneak attack like the one Williams received from Disco Pete's associates the day
before in Seattle. Chen was going over some last minute strategy with Williams and Hustler on
the outside when he was caught in the back of the head by a running baseball slide from the
challenger. The bell sounded, and the match was underway. Chen hit the concrete face first as
Cult Master slid to the floor to meet his opponent. The challenger pulled Chen up off the floor,
raking his eyes and delivering a kneelift to the midsection before connecting with a pair of
European uppercuts that rocked Chen back against the safety rail. Realizing he couldn't win the
belt by countout, Cult Master rolled Chen into the ring, but didn't hesitate in picking up his
offense where he had left off. After putting Chen in an armwringer, Cult Master went for a short
clothesline, but Chen ducked out of the way and caught Cult on the rebound with a kick to the
midsection followed by a clothesline of his own. Not letting Cult get back up, Chen mounted his
opponent and started choking him out with his bare hands, relinquishing the hold only when the
referee threatened him with disqualification. After acknowledging the official's instructions, Chen
nailed a legdrop and went for the cover, but Cult Master kicked out after only a two count.
Chen pulled Cult off the mat and went for the Deck Cutter, but Cult dropped to one knee to
counter the move before connecting with a northern lights suplex. Chen appeared to have the
wind knocked out of him, and Cult Master looked to be getting a second wind. Cult pulled
Chen off the mat and nailed a belly to belly suplex before slapping on a triangle choke. Things
looked bleak for Chen, but "The Conman" finally managed to reach the ropes with his feet to
force the break. Even though Cult Master was forced to let go of the hold, he looked to have
things well in hand. Chen just couldn't seem to get any offense going. Out of desperation, the
champion went for a huracanrana, but Cult Master countered it into a seated powerbomb.
Looking for the win, Cult Master pulled the semi-conscious Chen off the mat and set him on the
top rope, going for the Final Prayer. Chen was pulled up into a vertical position, but before Cult
Master could finish the move, Chen flipped out of his grasp and landed on his feet behind him.
Cult Master turned around, standing on the second rope, and got nailed with the Deck Cutter!!
Cult Master's head hit the canvas hard and Chen rolled him over, hooking the leg deep for the
three count to retain the title.
Wood: Wang Chen seems to have pulled a fast one over on The Cult
Master, nailing the Deck Cutter DDT with his opponent on the second rope when it looked as
though he was going to be easy pickings for the leader of The Cult. An interesting gameplan by
Chen, that certainly seemed to work as planned for him here in Salt Lake City.
Brewer: Before you go overboard on the kudos there, Wood, keep in mind that Chen has
possibly his toughest challenge to date still to come. Tomorrow night in St. Louis he goes one
on one with Scott Worth, an undefeated member of The Syndicate. Many feel that it was
Worth who gave Chen the TV title in the first place, and even more question whether or not
Chen can beat an opponent of that calibre. It could be the greatest match in the history of the
television championship when those two go head to head in a little over twenty-four hours
time.
Wood: Well, we should find out how much Scott Worth really has in him in our next match. The
Regulator and The Masked Lard have already qualified for the finals of the Survivor's Cup
Challenge. A third man will join them in only a few short moments. Let's go to the ring for
another Survivor's Cup rumble!
SURVIVOR'S CUP CHALLENGE - RUMBLE
#3
Syndicate member Scott Worth was revealed to have drawn number one,
but nonetheless the big man had a confident look on his face, knowing that the numbers would
be on his side since Syndicate teammate Virus Richards was also assigned to this ring. Things
weren't looking quite as promising, however, when Worth's first opponent, the seven-foot
Goliath was introduced. Worth didn't hold anything back, and eliminated Goliath in almost
record time. As Goliath was stepping over the top rope, Worth nailed him with a big boot to the
face that toppled the big man from Portsmouth, England over the top to the floor. Dusting his
hands and calling to the back for more, Worth looked impressive early on. That confident look
quickly disappeared when the third participant was buzzed in - the near 500-pound Cult
member and reigning extreme champion, The Destroyer. Worth hesitated a moment to ponder a
strategy while Destroyer made his way through the ropes. Realizing that this was one rare case
where he was the smaller man, Worth ducked and dodged away from Destroyer's assaults,
realizing that Destroyer had already wrestled earlier in the evening and trying to tire him out. The
two finally locked up as Gemini Killer was buzzed in as the fourth participant. As Gemini
stepped through the ropes, he was quickly the victim of a punishing double team from his two
much larger opponents. Destroyer nailed Gemini with a clothesline and Worth simply stomped
away while the man was down. The two then pulled Gemini up off the canvas and whipped him
into a corner. Destroyer nailed him with an avalanche before Worth used a big foot across the
throat to choke the two-time former extreme champion down. Seeing that Worth was pre-
occupied, Destroyer took the opening and nailed the former Inferno with a forearm to the back
of the head as the buzzer sounded to introduce the next man. The crowd cheered loudly as
Mack came running down to the ring. Instead of joining in the action right away, Mack sat back
and watched as Destroyer and Worth pounded on one another. Gemini struggled back to his
feet and took a page out of Mack's book, resting in the corner while the two big man battled it
out. Destroyer nailed Worth with a big powerslam, but missed a running elbowdrop as Moonelf
came down the aisle. Moonelf, Mack, and Gemini seemed to come to some sort of non-verbal
agreement, teaming up to attack the two tiring big men. The next man to enter was Izz Amazing
who was looking to rebound from his loss the previous day in the newcomers battle royal.
Amazing attacked Mack upon entering the ring while Moonelf and Gemini teamed up on
Destroyer, allowing Worth to catch his breath in the corner. Mack traded blows with Amazing
for a few moments, but suddenly dropped to his knees and caught Amazing with a forearm
uppercut below the belt. While Amazing was doubled over, Mack was quick to grab him by the
head and toss him over the top to the floor. In the meantime, Worth was getting back into the
match, attacking Gemini and taking him down with a big to the face while Destroyer mounted a
comeback against Moonelf. Again Mack was allowed to sit back and watch the action, letting
others tire each other out while he rested. The next entrant was Riot, making his first
appearance in an MMP ring in nearly ten months. Mack didn't waste any time once Riot
arrived, nailing Riot with a series of forearm sledges as Riot stepped between the ropes. On the
other side, Gemini was looking in rough shape in his battle with Scott Worth, and stood rocking
back against the ropes. Worth went for the big boot to eliminate him, but Gemini moved out of
the way, causing Worth to straddle himself on the top rope. Gemini nailed a couple of hard right
hands trying to put the big man over, but Worth resorted to a rake of the face to get his left leg
back over the top rope and back on solid ground. The Destroyer nailed Moonelf with a big
powerbomb in the middle of the ring as the next entrant, Karkas Nekki of UK Inc., came
towards the ring. Nekki went right after the winded Moonelf, pulling the mysterious man up off
the canvas, but Moonelf was playing possum. Once Nekki had pulled him up, Moonelf grabbed
him and nailed him with a hotshot followed by a clothesline that put Nekki over the top just as
quickly as he had come in. Moonelf and Nekki shouted back and forth at one another,
distracting Moonelf long enough for Destroyer to grab him from behind and lift him up in a gorilla
press, dropping him more than ten feet to the arena floor. The next entrant had the potential to
change the complexion of the match. Syndicate member Virus Richards came down the aisle
and immediately joined Worth in double-teaming Gemini Killer. The Destroyer was taking a
moment to rest while the two youngsters, Mack and Riot, continued to fight. After putting Mack
down with a spinning bodyslam, Riot went to the top rope. Mack, however, jumped to his feet
much sooner than Riot had expected and simply pushed Riot sideways, sending him to the floor
out of the match. The next participant was MMP rookie Julio Ramirez IV. The double team on
Gemini Killer continued until Virus grabbed him in position for a German suplex. With Gemini
dazed, Worth came off the far ropes and nailed him with a big boot to the face. Virus guided
the momentum to put Gemini over the top to the floor. The Syndicate looked to be taking over
the match. A clothesline from Mack put Ramirez out of the match, and a big forearm from
Destroyer did the same to Mack just seconds after. The Destroyer found himself alone with
both Virus and Worth. When Destroyer turned around from eliminating Mack, the Syndicate
members charged at him with a double clothesline, but the extreme champion ducked and caught
Virus on the rebound with a clothesline that put him over the top. The match was back to where
it was in the beginning with Destroyer and Worth battling one on one. The next entrant was
"Violent" Bob Flanagan who, rather than getting right in the ring, waited on the apron until the
final entrant, Clay Moore, was introduced. The two men entered the ring together. Worth had
taken Destroyer down in the corner, but was surprised by a double team assault from behind
from Clay & "Violent" Bob. Bob nailed Worth with a big avalanche and he and Clay drew a
loud ovation from the crown as their joint effort managed to get Worth over the top to the floor.
Worth, however, had the presence of mind to grab onto Bob on his way down, pulling Flanagan
to the floor as he went out. Clay shouted at the referee, arguing that Worth shouldn't be able to
eliminate anyone after he himself had been beated. The distraction, however, gave Destroyer an
opening which he used to nail Clay with a big clothesline that put the former TV champion to the
floor, giving Destroyer the victory and a birth in the finals.
Wood: What a roll The Destroyer is on! First he wins the tag titles. Then
he retains the extreme title over Antimarius. He and Harbinger kept the tag titles in a match with
Law and Jentz earlier tonight, now he's advanced to the finals of the Survivor's Cup Challenge.
The question now is 'how long can this run last'?
Brewer: When you're that size, the run can last as long as you want it to. Destroyer has looked
dominant here tonight, but this shouldn't surprise anyone. He's held both the extreme and tag
titles twice, and has much less experience than several of the guys on the roster today. But if
there's one guy who can cut a big man down, it's Onyx Cooper. The Regulator will take on
Destroyer a little later on tonight.
Wood: Keep in mind that Regulator will also be involved in that Four Corners of Death Match
tomorrow night with the June 12 title shot on the line. I understand now that the June 12 event is
going to be this month's Hardcore Saturday Night event, coming from the Winnipeg Arena in
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. If Destroyer or Regulator can win that big match tomorrow
night, it could prove a big disadvantage for the world champion going into a hardcore match
against a hardcore expert. Our next contest is not so much about titles as it is about pride. For
nearly a month, Mack was forced to follow orders from The Joker's Child. Now the two meet
one on one for the first time since. Can Mack avenge the weeks of humiliation, or will Joker's
experience advantage get the champion on to the final day of competition? Let's answer those
questions and send it back to the ring!
MMP Midwestern Championship Match
THE JOKER'S
CHILD (C) vs. MACK
Mack came out first with Starla, and clearly had the support of the packed
house at the Delta Center for the upcoming match. Joker had the full bum squad with him at
ringside, and the whole group stopped at ringside before stepping through the ropes, pointing,
waving, and laughing at Mack from the floor. When Joker finally got up on the apron to get in
the ring, Mack nailed him across the back with his pimp cane! Joker spilled into the ring and
Mack was right on top of him, kicking him repeatedly in the ribs before mounting the man and
peppering him with punches to the head. The referee tried to pull Mack off, but he wouldn't
budge. Starla soon jumped up on the apron to distract the official and let her man get some
more shots in, but the decision would ultimately backfire. With the ref's back turned, Hobo
Richard grabbed Joker's cigar and jumped in the ring, jabbing the still-lit end into the side of
Mack's neck. Mack spun around and nailed Richard with a right hand, sending him to the floor,
but Joker responded by catching Mack with a hard kneelift to the groin. As Mack hit the
canvas, Joker placed his knee across Mack's throat, choking him deliberately until the ref turned
his attention back to the match and saw what was going on. The ref pulled Joker off, but the
champion didn't let up. Once Mack got to his feet, Joker nailed him with a big running
clothesline before slapping on a figure four leglock. Mack was caught in the middle of the ring
and it looked like he might have to tap out when Starla leaned into the ring and puller her man to
the ropes. The referee was quick to admonish Starla for her actions, but ultimately had to force
Joker to break the hold. The referee leaned through the ropes and told Starla that any more
interference would get her sent back to the locker room, but her distraction was what Mack
needed. He started to roll to the floor, but Joker grabbed him from behind and pulled him back
in. Mack then spun around quickly and nailed Joker right over the head with a garden hoe!!
Mack nailed Joker with a falling headbutt to the groin called "Deez Nuts Drop" and went to the
top rope for the finish. Once he got up there, Ponch got up on the apron and lifted his shirt,
shaking his body in front of Mack. Mack replied with two middle fingers right in Ponch's face
and dove off with the Stonecutter, but by this time Joker had recovered and moved out of the
way. Mack hit the mat hard and Joker immediately applied the Last Laugh. Mack struggled to
the ropes, but couldn't make it. The ref asked him if he wanted to give up, but Mack shouted an
emphatic "NO!". After nearly five minutes in Joker's finisher, Mack blacked out. The referee
shouted at Mack, trying to get a reaction out of him, but when Mack didn't answer, the ref
stopped the match and Joker retained the title. Once the match was over, the hobos all entered
the ring, attacking Mack while Joker painted the word "bitch" on his back. After Joker and the
hobos left, Ponch got in the ring and kissed Mack on the forehead. When he turned around,
though, he was met with a stiff right-handed slap from Starla. Ponch grabbed the side of his face
as he tumbled out to the floor and ran back to join up with Joker and the rest of the
crew.
Wood: So Joker's Child has retained the title, but kudos to Mack for
putting up such a fight. This was Mack's first real shot at a singles title and he gave it his best
effort, but the emotions of the situation proved to be too much for the inexperienced competitor
to overcome to focus on the task at hand.
Brewer: There were some who questioned whether someone still as new to the MMP as Mack
was worthy of a title shot, but I have to be honest and say he gave a good showing here tonight.
If he gets a few more matches under his belt, Mack could be a strong challenger to a title here in
the MMP, but that day has not arrived just yet it would seem.
Wood: We go from the emotionally-charged match between Joker's Child and Mack to another
match where the history is just about as long. The Bootlegger and Clay Moore have met on
several occasions, with Clay yet to get the upper hand on Gene Barlotta. Will tonight be just
like all the rest for the defending universal champion, or does Clay Moore finally get his revenge
here in Salt Lake City. And where does guest referee Sean Williams fit into the equation?
There's only one way to find out, and that's to go back to the ring for more action!
MMP Universal Championship Match
THE BOOTLEGGER
(C) vs. CLAY MOORE
Special Guest Referee
"WILDCARD" SEAN
WILLIAMS
The challenger was introduced first, accompanied to the ring by "Violent"
Bob Flanagan. Clay was sporting a new t-shirt that read "I'm Clay..." on the front and "...not
that there's anything wrong with that!!" on the back. The Bootlegger and his Bootleggerettes
were introduced next, with Bootlegger waving the belt mockingly in front of Moore as he
stepped between the ropes. Bootlegger was holding a piece of paper in his hand, trying to
explain it to Betty as guest referee "Wildcard" Sean Willams made his way down. Just as
Williams was ready to ring the bell and start the match, Bootlegger demanded a microphone and
revealed the contents of the document to the crowd:
BOOTLEGGER: "A very disturbing incident has ocurred between myself and
Mr GHETTO or SEAN what ever his name is here. And I being the loyal upstanding citizen that
I am, have brought it before the MMP higher ups. Apparently Mr. GHETTO here fashions
himself a hired gun and believing the erroneous lies being spread about me and my
SYNDICATE allies has offered a very dishonest and shady proposition to us.
BOOTLEGGER shifts the documents in front of him and begins to
read.
BOOTLEGGER:"He has offered in a letter sent to me through email, (Oh
how times have changed.) and I quote " BOOTLEGGER, I'll take care of Mr. MOORE for the
right price." ..... I am personally shocked and apalled by these actions and move to have GHE--
- um SEAN removed from his position as referee for this match and to be fined by the MMP a
total of one hundred thousand dollars, the amount of money this swindler requested for the
attack on Mr.MOORE."
After hearing the announcement, two high ranking MMP executives came to
the ring to check the piece of paper. Although they were unable to confirm the source of the
document, they regrettably instructed Williams to leave the ring and a replacement official was
brought down. After waving goodbye to Sean Williams, Bootlegger turned and offered Moore
a handshake. Remembering what had happened in the past, Moore ignored the offer, nailing
Bootlegger with a series of knifeedge chops to the chest followed quickly by a dropkick that
sent Bootlegger out to the floor. Clay followed him out, but Bootlegger was ready for him and
caught the challenger with a hard thumb to the eyes. He slammed Moore's head into the
announce table before quickly rolling him back into the ring under the bottom rope. Bootlegger's
offense was very direct. He caught Clay with a DDT followed by a legdrop to the back of the
head, but rather than going for the cover, the universal champion responded by mockingly
slapping Clay in the back of the head, taunting him by asking if that was the best he could do.
With his opponent down, Bootlegger got in a few hard kicks to the ribs before applying a camel
clutch. Bootlegger shouted out to the crowd the whole time he had Moore in the punishing hold,
further taunting his opponent who was already somewhat worn down from the rumble he had
been involved in earlier in the evening. When it looked like Clay wasn't going to give up,
Bootlegger released the hold and jumped in the air, driving his body weight down across Clay's
back. After slapping Clay across the back of the head a couple more times, Bootlegger
repeated the move, but this time Clay was able to roll onto his back and get a knee up, catching
Bootlegger right in the groin. With the champion doubled over in pain, Clay saw his opening.
He nailed Bootlegger with a release German suplex followed by a powerslam before tying
Bootlegger up in the ring ropes. With the fans clearly behind him, Clay charged at the subdued
Bootlegger and nailed a big kick to the face. Bootlegger's eyes looked groggy as Clay charged
again, but by the time he hit the second time, Betty had freed the champ from the ropes and Clay
went through them, crashing hard sternum first into the ringside announce table. Veronica
looked concerned as she realized that Clay was having serious trouble catching his breath. The
referee wanted to stop the match, but Clay wouldn't let him. He crawled back into the ring, but
was immediately nailed with the Heart's Desire, leading to an easy pin for The Bootlegger. After
the match, Bootlegger called his ladies into the ring. They obliged, pulling out tasers from under
their evening gowns. Upon orders from Bootlegger, the two ladies jabbed the tasers into
Moore's midsection, but they had no effect. Bootlegger pulled Moore up and realized that he
was wearing a layer of padding under his shirt. Laughing at Clay's ultimately futile attempt to
protect himself, Bootlegger tore the padding off and ordered the women to repeat their attack.
Bob tried to get in the ring, but Bootlegger sent him off the apron and hard into the safety rail
with a clothesline. A group of referee's eventually had to be called down to pull Bootlegger and
his women off of Clay, and the EMTs were brought out to help Clay to the back. After the
technicians had strapped Clay to the stretcher, The Cult Master appeared in the runway,
ordering two men to head down to the ring. The two cloaked men pushed the medics aside and
gained control of the stretcher, quickly wheeling Clay to the back as their Master shouted
directions.
Wood: What a vicious assault by The Bootlegger! Clay Moore could be in
serious trouble here, but he has apparently been abducted by The Cult! What's going on here,
Ray?
Brewer: Sorry, Wood, I have about as much an idea about what just happened as you do. It's
obvious why Bootlegger would do what he did given his history with Clay Moore, but I really
have no guess as to what The Cult Master was thinking. He could very well be endangering
Moore's health and safety by pulling this little stunt.
Wood: We'll send a camera backstage to see if we can't shed some light on this situation here,
but for now we will send you to back to the ring for the fourth and final Survivor's Cup rumble.
There are some big names in this ring, and the winner will move on to meet The Regulator, The
Masked Lard, and The Destroyer in tomorrow night's final with a shot at the world title on the
line. Let's go to the ring!
SURVIVOR'S CUP CHALLENGE - RUMBLE
#4
The first man to enter the match was the winner of the previous day's
newcomers battle royal, Masked Man X. The self-proclaimed superhero stood patiently in the
corner as his first opponent, another relative newcomer to the MMP - Evel Woody, made his
way down. Once he was in the ring, Woody took a swing at MMX, but the masked wrestler
blocked it and laid into Woody with a series of punches of his own. Backing Woody into a
corner, MMX looked to be still riding the momentum of his win in Seattle the night before. He
stomped away on Woody in the early going and, as the next participant was buzzed in, MMX
pulled Woody off the canvas and threw him over the top. The next man would prove a little
more of a challenge, as former world champion Blitzkrieg rushed the ring. Blitz nailed MMX
with a running clothesline and, with his opponent down, stepped hard with his right foot across
MMX's throat. Mighty Midget shouted encouragement from the outside, but it didn't help
MMX shake Blitz's chokehold. Blitz eventually let up on his own and delivered a series of kicks
to the ribcage of his fallen opponent as Lenny Shaw made his way down to ringside. Shaw
jumped in quickly and nailed Blitz, his former ally, in the back of the head with a forearm smash
before kicking away at both men. Shaw pulled Blitz up and bodyslammed him, but in the
meantime MMX was able to get back to his feet, nailing Shaw with a knee to the back from
behind. The next man was buzzed in while Blitz, MMX, and Shaw were battling it out. It was
Ace Manley. Ace rushed down to ringside and took Blitz down with a hiptoss, following it up
with a big elbowdrop while Shaw and MMX fought in the corner. Ace pulled Blitz up and went
for a suplex, but Blitz reversed it, taking Manley down with a suplex of his own. Masked Man
X drove a big knee into Shaw's midsection in the corner as the buzzer sounded to introduce the
next competitor, the reigning television champion "The Conman" Wang Chen. Chen wasted no
time taking on the competition. As soon as he stepped through the ropes he raked Blitzkrieg's
eyes and tossed Ace Manley over the top rope. Chen then went after MMX, kicking him in the
back of the knees and joining Lenny Shaw in a double team effort on the fallen superhero.
Blitzkrieg soon shook off the effects of Chen's first attack and retaliated with a running
elbowsmash to the back of Chen's head. The action was really heating up as XuMed entered
the match. While Shaw and MMX were still going at it, Blitz slapped Chen in a sleeperhold!
Chen looked to be fading, but quickly backed hard into a corner, crushing Blitz against the
buckle and forcing the hold to be broken. Shaw nailed Chen with a standing dropkick while
XuMed went for a chop block on MMX. MMX saw the move coming and leapfrogged over
XuMed and nailing him with an elbow to the head. MMX then quickly grabbed the Revolution
member and dumped him over the top rope to the floor. The buzzer sounded and the crowd
errupted into a loud chorus of boos as the current midwestern champion The Joker's Child came
out next. Joker immediately went after MMX while on the other side of the ring, Wang Chen
and Lenny Shaw, two men who had held the TV title in their careers, battled it out. Blitzkrieg,
seeing that the other men in the match were occupied, grabbed a breather in the corner before
joining Shaw in a double team on the TV champion. Joker's Child was choking the tired MMX
in a corner when "Stunning" Steve Simon was introduced as the next entrant. Simon went right
after Joker, nailing him with a big clothesline and stomping him mercilously into the canvas. After
clearing the cobwebs, MMX went back after Lenny Shaw, hiptossing Shaw over the top to the
floor while Wang Chen eliminated Blitzkrieg. SSS was choking Joker with a boot across the
throat, much to the delight of the capacity crowd. It was down to the final four - Masked Man
X, Wang Chen, Joker's Child, and Steve Simon. With Joker and SSS fighting, MMX and Chen
locked up, trading punches back and forth. MMX sent his opponent reeling back against the
ropes and went for a big clothesline to finish Chen off, but "The Conman" ducked out of the way
and picked MMX up in a fireman's carry position before dumping him over the top. Chen then
sat back and watched as Simon and Joker fought. Realizing that Joker was badly beaten down,
Simon pulled the midwestern champ up off the canvas. But Joker was not as badly injured as he
led Simon to believe, nailing SSS with a low blow and throwing him over the top by his hair.
Joker posed for the crowd, drawing more jeers from the sold out crowd, but those jeers quickly
turned to cheers as Wang Chen nailed Joker with a dropkick that put him over the top to the
floor, giving Wang Chen the victory and the fourth stop in the Four Corners of Death
final.
Wood: Wang Chen is your winner! He will now go on to St. Louis
tomorrow night to not only defend the TV title against Scott Worth, but also to compete in the
Four Corners of Death Match to determine the winner of the Survivor's Cup Challenge and
determine the mandatory challenger for the MMP world championship at Hardcore Saturday
Night on June 12.
Brewer: Regulator, Destroyer, Wang Chen, and Masked Lard. That should be one hell of a
match coming up tomorrow night. Whoever the world champion is after the event, be it Korso,
O'Conner, or this mystery man, is going to be in for one hell of a challenge when we go to
Winnipeg coming up in a couple of weeks.
Wood: But before we get to that big match tomorrow night, two of these men will do battle for
the MMP extreme championship. The Destroyer, who last night defeated Christian Antimarius,
puts the belt on the line against former world, television and, yes, extreme champion The
Regulator. Can Regulator overcome Destroyer's huge size advantage? Let's go to the
ring!
MMP Extreme Championship
No Disqualification
Match
THE DESTROYER (C) vs. THE REGULATOR
Harbinger accompanied Destroyer to the ring, carrying both tag team belts
while Destroyer held the extreme title proudly in his right hand. The Regulator had his trusty
Loui Slugger bat at his side and his medallion of Marbels the Cat's head hanging around his
neck. Realizing that his opponent was coming into the match with a sizeable advantage,
Regulator attacked Destroyer quickly, but was immediatley caught in a big bearhug by the near
500-pound champion. Destroyer didn't hold the bearhug for long, as he simply dropped
Regulator over the top rope to the floor. Regulator collapsed into the safety rail and Destroyer
went over to Regulator's corner and grabbed Loui Slugger. As Reg got up on the apron and
started back into the ring, Destroyer raised the bat high in the air and snapped it over his knee.
Destroyer charged the ropes, catching Onyx coming back in with a running elbow that put Reg
back to the floor. After tossing the pieces of Loui to the outside, Destroyer stepped over the
top rope and jumped down to the floor, but Reg caught him coming down with a spinning heel
kick. Destroyer clutched his jaw in pain and rolled slowly back into the ring as Regulator went
to the top rope. Reg nailed a missile dropkick that put Destroyer down followed by a flying
elbowdrop off the opposite corner. Reg made the cover, but Destroyer kicked out after a one
count. Not carrying as much weight or having fought as many matches, Reg made it back to his
feet first and waited for his opponent to do the same. Reg nailed a running clothesline that
staggered Destroyer, but didn't put him down. A second clothesline had the same effect. A
third time Reg charged in, but instead of hitting a clothesline, he went for a kick to the
midsection. Destroyer predictably caught the foot, but Regulator nailed him with an insigury kick
that put Destroyer through the ropes and out to the floor. Destroyer started pulling himself up,
but Regulator was right on him. With the champion back on his feet, Reg nailed a couple of
kicks to the midsection and went for a hiptoss, but Destroyer blocked it and nailed Reg with a
belly to belly suplex through the announce table! Both men were slow to get up from the
wreckage, but it was Destroyer who got back to his feet first. Before Regulator could catch his
breath, Destroyer picked him up and nailed a powerbomb, but rather than dropping him on the
ground, he dropped him on the safety rail. Reg bent awkwardly over the steel, apparently
injuring his back. The referee quickly stepped between the competitors to check on Reg's back,
but the challenger insisted that he was OK to continue. Destroyer pushed past the referee and
threw Reg back in the ring, grabbing a fire extinguisher before getting back in himself. Regulator
was obviously having trouble with his back, slowly pulling himself back to his feet with the aid of
the ropes. Destroyer waited for him to turn around, and when he did, Destroyer nailed him right
in the face with the fire extinguisher before slapping on the Will Breaker. Given the condition of
Reg's back, the referee pleaded with Regulator to give it up, but the challenger refused.
Eventually the screams of pain got to be too much and the referee stepped in, stopping the
match out of concern for Reg's health and awarding the decision to Destroyer.
Wood: The Destroyer's impressive run continues here with a big win over
The Regulator. I know Onyx Cooper is going to be fuming when he gets back to the dressing
room, but I think the referee made the right decision in stopping the contest.
Brewer: Wood, you know Onyx and I have had some dealings in the past, and I know he really
wanted to get that extreme title back, but when I heard his back get dropped on that safety rail,
I knew something was wrong. I think that was the only call the ref could make. Let's just hope
it's not a serious injury and that Onyx will be ready to go tomorrow night in the Four Corners of
Death Match for the Survivor's Cup.
Wood: But before we head to St. Louis, we have one more match still to come here in Salt
Lake City. The new world champion, "Corrupt" John Korso, puts the title on the line against a
man many feel has been ready to win the title for quite some time, Captain Patrick O'Conner.
We've been waiting for this match for months, and now the time has come, with the world title
on the line. Let's go to the ring!
MMP World Championship Match
"CORRUPT" JOHN
KORSO (C) vs. CAPTAIN PATRICK O'CONNER
Korso came to the ring not only with Bootleggerette Daphne, but also with
the giant Scott Worth to watch his back. When O'Conner was called down, he had George at
his side, but DNL's associates Zane and Charles were there as well. O'Conner then asked for a
mic.
O'Conner: Friends of the MMP. Yes, you out there, my friends and fans. For
too long the unruly have held sway here in the MMP. First there was the Family, a group of
misfits who gained power and gold through their willingness to band together against 'outsiders'.
Then there came the Congregation, that group of miscreants led by the wily Masochrist. No
single wrestler stood a chance when they stood against either of these groups. Now they have
banded together. Lastly there is that group of sociopaths who choose to call themselves the
Syndicate. Their philosophy of domnation through intimidation is clear to all. Edmund Burke
said 'The only necessary thing for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.' You should
all know that there are good men here who will not stand by and do nothing. I'd like to introduce
these men to you now.
As the Captain announces each man's name they hop the guard rail and take
up a position around the ring facing the crowd.
O'Conner: First of all I give you the ringmaster of the Dark Carnival known
as DNL. Next I give you the Michigan Streetfighter Wolverine. My next two members have
formed an alliance, one that is strengthened by their mutual hatred of the Congegation and the
Syndicate, the mysterious Moonelf and the lethal Mute. Lastly I present a man of integrity that
needs no introduction, Lenny Shaw. Ladies and gentlemen I present a force for right, the
Untouchables!
Korso, Worth, and Daphne didn't know exactly how to respond to what
they had just seen. For the first time in a long time, the Syndicate members found themselves
outnumbered. Seemingly acting out of confusion, Korso rushed at O'Conner and tried to assault
the Captain from behind, but O'Conner turned around and blocked the punch, connecting with
two of his own in response. A series of kneelifts to the midsection from O'Conner backed
Korso into the corner. With Korso winded, O'Conner backed out and nailed him with a big
avalanche, then taking him down with a lariat as the champion staggered out. With things
looking bleak for the Syndicate early on, Virus Richards, Michael, and their two black nameless
security men made their way to the ring, standing with Worth and Daphne. Korso looked in
rough shape as he pulled himself back up. O'Conner went for a hiptoss, but Korso surprisingly
blocked it and nailed O'Conner out of desperation with a forearm smash to the temple before
taking him down with a dropkick. With the Captain down, Korso started to work on the
challenger's arm. After dropping a knee repeatedly across O'Conner's bicep muscle, Korso
slapped on a hyperextension hold that isolated the elbow. O'Conner wrestled his way to the
ropes forcing the break, but Korso didn't let up there. After reluctantly relinquishing the hold,
Korso rolled O'Conner over on his stomach and delivered a series of kneedrops to the
shoulderblade. Korso then went for another submission hold, applying an armbar designed to
work on both the injured elbow and shoulder, but again O'Conner was able to make it to the
ropes. Korso refused to break this time so O'Conner, grabbing the top rope with his good arm,
hiptossed Korso over the top to the floor, much to the delight of the sellout crowd. The
Syndicate members on the outside tried to get to Korso, but members of The Untouchables
intervened, not letting Virus, Worth, or Daphne get to the fallen world champion. O'Conner
stepped to the apron and, once Korso was back on his feet, came off the apron with a rocker
dropper from behind that drove Korso face first into the concrete floor! O'Conner had a fire in
his eyes that hadn't been there in quite some time. After nailing Korso with a belly to belly
suplex into the ring steps, O'Conner threw the man back into the ring to go for the finish,
slapping on the Celtic Cross!! Korso was trapped in the middle of the ring with nowhere to go,
or so it seemed until Worth slid in under the bottom rope and pulled Korso to the ropes. The
referee went to admonish Worth for his interference, but there was no need. Moonelf and Mute
pulled Worth out and a brawl ensued on the floor. Worth, Virus, and the security men were
greatly outnumbered as the action went back towards the dressing room. Back in the ring,
O'Conner pulled Korso up and lifted the champion into his old finisher, the Argentinian
Backbreaker, but Korso was ready for him. Remember the counter that O'Conner had used
against him so many months ago, Korso shifted his body position to slip out of the hold and
rolled O'Conner into an awkward small package. The referee got down and counted the
1...2...3!! The referee reached out to the floor for the belt as Korso raised his hands
triumphantly, but the official was quick to pull Korso's hands down as he handed the belt to
O'Conner!!!! The fans went crazy at the news that a new world champion had been crowned!!
The referee tried to explain that he had counted Korso's shoulders down and not O'Conner's,
but received a right hand for his trouble. O'Conner celebrated to the back with George while
Korso stood in the ring berating the referee as the screen fades to black.
