In the early morning after my sleep
I find the peace my heart can't keep
All is still before the world opens
I am calm, relieved of my problems
When plants and animals begin to stir
I feel kinship with mother nature
You and I as the river runs
Slide down time together; one
Looking ahead to tumultuous day
I know my fear, but not yet afraid
I can prepare for daily chaos
Know I'll feel sad; know I'll feel lost
Forcing, driving through the day
Trying not to look away
Focus on the moment later that night
When sleep will take my fears beyond sight
And when that instant finally comes
I'll rest beyond the bursting sun
Hush now fears, away you must creep
It's time to let my body sleep
