2006 BEST OF'S!!!

MUSIC (makes the people come together)

RECORDS

Yeah, I know there aren't 10. I hate the number 10.
8. The Mars Volta - Amputechture
The third studio LP from Omar Rodriguez-Lopez + Cedric Bixler-Zavala & Friends. I must say, I am very impressed. This is definitely my favorite Mars Volta album. It's got the flavor of Frances The Mute, but it doesn't drag like it's predecessor. I remember my first listen of Frances The Mute actually. I was sitting in my sister's black jetta at Esplanade and Ave. E, overlooking the Palos Verdes penninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean, just as I had done every Tuesday and Thursday of that semester, pretending to be in the class I wasn't enrolled in. In fact, I wasn't even enrolled at the school. So I would sit in the car from 7:30-10pm, 2 days a week for 4 months. Good times! Frances The Mute was the only CD I wanted to end. Every passing second of "Cassandra Gemini" felt like an hour. It was too much of nothing. While I don't have to hide from my parents anymore, good music does help pass the time during those 4 hour stretches of between classes in Hollywood. Fortunately The Mars Volta have sprung back to life with Amputechture

Highlighted Tracks: "Vicarious Atonement," "Viscera Eyes," "Day Of The Baphomets"
7. Tatmrum - Elektronik Blakc Mess
Highlighted Tracks: "My Fall," "Abort The Pope" "Heteroïne"
6. The Black Keys - Chulahoma: The Songs Of Junior Kimbrough
Highlighted Tracks: "Have Mercy On Me"
5. The Bronx - The Bronx
Highlighted Tracks: "Shitty Future," "History's Stranglers"
4. The Black Keys - Magic Potion
Highlighted Tracks: I'm not sure. The entire record sounds the same so I don't know the difference between each track jajaja.
3. Ratatat - Classics
Highlighted tracks: "Lex," "Gettysburg," "Wildcat"
2. Comets On Fire - Avatar
Highlighted Tracks: "Lucifer's Memory," "The Swallow's Eye," "Holy Teeth," "Sour Smoke"
1. Melvins - (A) Senile Animal
Highlighted Tracks: ALL OF THEM.

I'm not sure if that was in order. Of the bottom 7, Magic Potion is the only record I wouldn't skip any tracks for, but that's only because the entire thing sounds the same and so I'm not aware when the songs change. I actually wanted to put Chulahoma in it's place, but it's an EP of cover songs. Nevertheless, you really should hear those above 8 records. I'm tired of all those kids on the series who say "umm, all I can think of is AFI - Decemberunderground and MCR - Welcome To The Black Parade teehee ^_^" I mean, first off, the MCR record blows. I'd go more into it, but I want to save it for my Worst Of's. And the AFI record is not on my list. See, do you see any bunnies up there? No, you don't.

Oh look, it's time for the Worst Of's!

SONGS

Edit: JUNE 14th 2007. Wow. 2007 is actually close to being half over. And would you look at that, I still don't have a Best and Worst Ofs list for 2006. I can't remember what was going here, but I do remember it being really really funny. I just said that to Erin. I also just said this to her as well: did you know that there's a link between excessive caffeine use and memory loss?
