We have been buliding, improving, (i.e. remodeling, adding-on) to our homes (all three, one at a time) for the past 20 years. Our first home, in Windsor, California, was purchased when we were college students through a low income program of the Department of Agriculture, Farm Home Division. Of course it wasn't long before we began the process of creating a yard and added on a carport/garage. Our next home was in Elk Grove, California. It was a much larger home. We had very little when we moved in to this home, but it didn't take long to fill this house. Over several years we made several changes to the yard. We added a dog run on the north and a garden path on the south, a patio and deck to the back, along with increasing the Victorian elevation in the front. The house was eventually painted Victorian Rose with white and wine trim. It was lighted with outdoor mini-lights and had a constant glow. Many people around the neighborhood referred to our house as "The Storybook House". Once the outside was nearly completed we began a new project. Since I am a Disney collector we decided to add an additional room to act as my office space and display my Disney collection. This project soon evolved into creating a master suite with a spa tub upstairs as well. The projects were completed JUST in TIME to put the house on the market. We had lived next to the "wicked witch on the North" for ten years too many and it was time to make tracks for more a peaceful environment, with a lot less stress. After a few months the house sold for MORE than the asking price, and we were able to pack up and be on our way. Our next adventure begins in a mining community in the California foothills. I will be posting pictures and how to information to this site as the projects take shape.
MY FAVORITE LINKS
We have recently discovered a store online (HomeClick) that has just about everything we need as we recreate the main bathroom. The prices are a little cheaper (about 10-20% off maybe more) than Home Depot or Lowe's (where I have direct deposit). Give it a try. I was very amazed at the selection and prices, PLUS FREE SHIPPING and NO SALES TAXES..
Not much I can say about this site. June, the creator of this operation, is an amazing woman. She decided to set this site up to link willing writers to servicemen and women. She saw a need to show the troops that we the American people supported them. I believe she has created a valuable site and I encourage you to take a look.
My experience with The Tire Rack has been a good one. I have ordered at least a dozen tires for the cars in my family. Even with shipping, mounting, and balance at a local tire shop I still save money on the same tires. I had one shop owner ask me where I bought my tires and later told me he has ordered tires from there now, too. His supplier can't give him the discount he gets from The Tire Rack. My wife discovered that Wal-Mart will mount and balance these tires. And then she can shop instead of sitting in a tire shop's waiting room.
