The 1903 Wright Flyer Project          1/6 scale reproduction
The Research:    Library resources - Book purchases - Magazine articles  -  Internet Surfing.
The Plans :   Purchased from The Smithsonian Institute    50 pages of detailed blueprints that were executed
in 1986 when the Original Flyer was dissasembled and restored.
The Materials:  Framework is basswood strips from local Hobby Shops  (Central Hobbies & Smaller Scale)
Brass tubing from same sources &  Brass Scrap form local recycler.  Current proposal is to
build up the engine in styrene plastic.  Wing covering will be linen.  I have found a very
fineweave  with general "look" of the original fabeic used by the Wrights - but more to scale.
Special Thanks to:  Jay Ward - who is fabricating sprockets to match the drive chain I found at a
                                                                       Copier Repair company.
