Book of Poems from the 20th Century

A Baker\Failor Poem

We prepare for the journey on the river of time
By wasting our summers to save a dime
Eager to forget youth, and enter our prime
But jumping off board would be a crime

Before your know it the river gets rough
Things that surround you dont seem enough
When times are changing, or getting tough
call on your friends, cause they never bluff

For some, the ride is short and sweet
Lenghty or not, life is a treat
Moments of triumph destroy those of defeat
Savor your moments before they deplete

One day you'll ask, "Where does my river flow
Some of us wonder, some of us know
Meandering life, the bends make us grow
Nothing's in our hands whereever we go

So in a year, where do you think we'll be
Finding our niche in society
Or living like Nomans, traveling free?
Deciding what's wrong and right for me

Books that we've read and songs that we've sung
could not prepare us for what's begun
So if a string breaks, have it restrung
May all of us remain forever young.
