"Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents," grumbled Jo, lying on the rug.

Christmas was glorious. Even Henry, who you may recall was experiencing a pre-Christmas rebellion, admitted that "despite my complaints of the way Christmas is run, I do enjoy giving and receiving presents":

My eyes are stinging because I got to bed at 1:00, and I'm still full from the Smorgasbord. I'm also a little dizzy from the magnitude of my haul. I wasn't nearly that good this year.

C. gave me the 1969 Revell release of Disneyland's Pirate Ship. (This is worth about $100 to a collector now, and my plan is to actually assemble the kit, thereby reducing its value to about $20. However, we will have moved from a plastic kit in a cardboard box to objet d'art. Maybe.)

S. said my actual present is still unaccountably being flown around the world by FedEx, but in the meantime she gave me a Starbucks mug and Starbucks gift certificates.

K. got me a Blockbuster gift certificate and a DVD of "A Christmas Story."

Z. gave me a Huntington Library slider pen (this one has koi that slide under the Japanese bridge) and an ornament shaped like the Graf Zeppelin. Actually, it's shaped like a football with landing gear, but "Graf Zeppelin" is written on the sides.

I am also extremely pleased with the gifts I gave and received, the food, the music, and most of all my wonderful, wonderful family. Yay, Christmas.
