8.8.02 Bob and I watched Iron Monkey last night.
I am not really into the whole world of Kung Fu, but I kind of like Wire Fu, and Iron Monkey is full of it. It's a goofy movie, with a modified Robin Hood plot, not at all poetic and pensive and lovely like Crouching Tiger, but pretty fun. And best of all, lots of people flying around rooftops. Not since Peter Pan (oh, wait, that's what I said when I saw Crouching Tiger) . . . not since Crouching Tiger have I so wanted to fly. Not in a plane. Just me.
I was telling Eric at work about it, because he teaches Tae Kwon Do, and I thought maybe he'd like to see it.
Me: See, if you taught wire fighting, I could come flying in through your office window to ask questions, instead of just walking in the door like everybody else.
Eric: I told you I was perfectly willing to teach you wire fighting. You said you didnt want to learn . . .
Me: I'm scared of heights.
Eric: You have to face your fears.
Me: That is one theory. The other theory is to avoid the things that make you fearful.
Eric: Thats not a theory. The Iron Monkey would be so disappointed.
Me: Yes, it is a theory. It is my theory.
