Background I decided to try my hand at making castings of some of the model rocket parts that I had. My castings are made of polyurethane plastic and have all the intricate detail of the original parts. Making castings is not an exact science - especially on hollow parts, like nose cones. The resin distribution can vary slightly from part to part. While trying to glue some pieces together once, I found out that polyurethane is resistant to solvents, so plastic cement or plastic welder won't work on it. I plan to use epoxy whenever attachment to something is necessary. Here's a list of the rocket for which I've made castings. Just click on the hyperlink to see the details of each casting.
Check back from time to time. I've got a few ideas about my next casting project already. *************************************************************************************************** This page was created: October 31, 2001 I welcome comments from viewers of my pages.
