Information for Visitors

The Madras Medical College was founded in February, 1835. The General Hospital dates back to the year 1664. MMC alumni include the first lady doctor in the english speaking world and the first indian lady doctor.
The Institution is the leading tertiary referral centre for South India and is located at the heart of the bustling city of Madras {population 6 million and now renamed Chennai}
