| Sable's Story |
| Let me say, my first regret is that I have no pictures of our baby girl. Sable was a beautiful sable kit that was 7 weeks old when she came into our lives. She was the most loving and gentle baby. She was "my" ferret. When we bought Streaker and Sable, we assigned them to family members....what a laugh! :-) I did cuddle with her and she was the only one that would lay in my lap and go to sleep. She would sometimes just search for me. I am convinced she was an angel. She helped me through some really hard times with my depression and would cheer me up with ease. Within 4 weeks, she became such a part of my life that the loss almost destroyed me. This is how it happened. One morning I let them out to play and they were both just as happy and ferrety as usual. That evening Sable was lying listless in vomit and was totally unresponsive. If this sounds that it is lacking some information....it is. I, still to this day, am not sure what happened. Anyway, I took her to the emergency animal hospital and they were able to revive her. So, the next morning, she was at her normal vet when they opened. We found out she had Coccidia. My vet has ferrets of her own and is a wonderful vet. She tried everything to save my baby. One moment she was fine, and when she went to check on her, she was gone. I received the call that afternoon. Within 36 hours, my salvation was gone. It took me a couple of days to get close to Streaker. She still played and was taken care of but, by my husband. This is what started my obsession with these wonderful creatures. Streaker has since turned into my baby also along with Nozy and Evan. It was a horrible experience but, I have been truly blessed to have had ANY time with such an angelic animal. So hold your fuzzies tight and love them like every moment might be their last! I will get more in detail at a later date....This is still pretty hard. Forgive me. I LOVE AND MISS YOU SABLE!!!!!! I think of you everyday and you will always be my first fuzzbutt. You are the reason I will continue to help fuzzies. You have done more than just bless me. You have made a difference in alot of fuzzies' lives and will continue to as long as I am around. |
