Recommended Television and Video Entertainment for Young Children
by Michael R. Papciak, M.D.
These programs and videos are selected because of the relationship of their content to the processing abilities of children at various ages. The selections are based on their clarity and proper use of spoken language, utilization of music, as well as the educational and non-violent nature of their themes. A total of one hour maximum exposure per day to television, videos, and computers is an excellent guideline to insure adequate time for learning from reading, music, interactive games, and unstructured free play.

Alternative Approach to Teaching Children
Who Are Slow at Learning How to Read
At www.ballstickbird.com, you will find articles by Dr. Rene Fuller regarding an alternative approach to teaching children how to read. Even if your child does not have difficulty learning how to read, these articles are still very interesting and helpful. There is also ordering information for Dr. Fuller's Ball-Stick-Bird books (reading series for children).
Recipies
Squash Casserole
1 cup cooked squash - canned (drained) or fresh ( 4 small)
Few slices of onion (I use a half to one whole onion)
 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
 tsp. salt
1/3 stick melted butter
1 cups scalded whole milk (or whatever milk you have, heated to steaming)
2 eggs
1 cups cheese
1 Tbsp. pimiento (pinched smaller)
Dash Tabasco
salt and pepper to taste
If using fresh squash, cook with onion and salt until tender. Drain squash then combine with black pepper, tabasco, bread crumbs, milk, butter, cheese and salt in bowl. Add lightly beaten eggs after stirring in milk so that the hot milk won't cook eggs. Stir all ingredients until well mixed. Pour mixture into a greased casserole dish and sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at
350 degrees for 30 minutes, uncover and cook 10-15 minutes longer until lightly browned and bubbly. Mmmmm Mmmm Good!
This was a hit at my daughter's birthday party!
