Well, I had to have this page because i feel as if most of humanit doesn't get enough culture, and since that is the same part of humanity that will most likely visit this site I thought to myself, I need a quote page so my adoring fans will no longer be considered just freaky people, but freaky-cultured people. So enjoy.
What a frightening thing is the human, a mass of gages and dials and registers. And we can read only a few. And those perhaps not accurately. - Unknown
There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. But omitted, and the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and miseries... On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves. Or lose the ventures before us. - Unknown
| The universe is one great
kindergarten for man. Everything that exists has brought with it its own
peculiar lesson. The mountain teaches stability and grandeur; the ocean
immensity and change. Forests, lakes, and rivers, clouds and winds, stars
and flowers, stupendous glaciers and crystal snowflakes--every form of
animate or inanimate existence, leaves its impress upon the soul of man.
--Orison Swett Marden What lies behind us and what lies before us are
small matters compared to what lies within us. Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but
by the seeds you plant. Impossible is a word to be found only in the
dictionary of fools. If you're going through hell, keep going. Finish each day and be done with it. You have
done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget
them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it
serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old
nonsense. The state of your life is nothing more than a
reflection of your state of mind. Man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a
heaven for? First they ignore you, then they laugh at you,
then they fight you, then you win. We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself
the means of inspiration and survival. To the world you might be one person, but to one
person you might be the world Keep away from people who try to belittle your
ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you
feel that you too, can become great. Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or
what's a Heaven for? A candle loses nothing by lighting another
candle. The day the Lord created hope was probably the
same day he created Spring. How vain it is to sit down to write when you have
not stood up to live. Hope is the companion of power and the mother of
success, For those of us who hope strongest have within us the gift of
miracles. The human heart feels things the eyes cannot see,
and knows what the mind cannot understand. The future belongs to those who believe in the
beauty of their dreams. In the Midst of movement and chaos, keep
stillness inside of you. When you reach for the stars, you may not quite
get them, but you won't come up with a handful of mud either. |
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not the
world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are
omnipotent. The slogan, 'Press on,' has solved and always will solve the
problems of the human race
--Calvin Coolidge
There is nothing that fear and hope does not permit men
to do.
--Marquis De Vauvenargues
A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds,
adored by little statesman and philosophers and divines. With consistency a
great soul has simply nothing to do.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you
decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are
always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To
map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same
courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men
and women to win them.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go
forward and make your dreams come true.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of
intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better
place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This
is to have succeeded.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.
--Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
True hope dwells on the possible, even when life seems
to be a plot written by someone who wants to see how much adversity we can
overcome True hope responds to the real world, to real life; it is an active
effort
--Walter Anderson The Confidence Course: Seevens Steps to Self-Fulfillment by
Walter Anderson
The United States remains the last
best hope for a mankind plagued by tyranny and deprivation. America is no
stronger than its people - and that means you and me. Well, I believe in you,
and I believe that if we work together then one day we will say, ``We fought the
good fight. We finished the race We kept the faith.'' And to our children and
our children's children we can say, ``We did all that could be done in the brief
time that was given to us here on earth
--Ronald Reagan
