My 1998 Corvette C5
About Me
Hey my name is Derek Miller and this is my first web page.  I mostly wanted a spot to put some pics of my car, so if you don't really like cars (vets) in particular you won't really like my web page.
I am currently serving in the Air Force based at Spangdahlem Germany.  Love the country hate the base.  I have been here for two years now and will probably be leaving soon.  One of the things I love most other than the beautiful european woman and the endless types of beers and wine (to make the one not so cute, cute again) is the Auto Bahn.  Open roads (which actually do have speed limits, just no obeys them and polizi don't give a shit) for me to open it up on.  My currently topspeed is 190mph.  This is due to the fact I have an A4 and only 3:15 gears (which will soon change).  so on to a little about my car.

1998 Corvette Coupe
I purchased my car when I was 23 in Hapmton Virgina.  There I drove it (stock) for a few months then had to leave for korea for a year (couldn't take the car).  So for that year I dumped money into (about 12 g's thus far) and my buddy back home got to work installing everything.  After my year was up I went back to Va to pack it up and ship to Geramny.  Here is a list of my Mods:
Halltech Tric air intake,Granatelli MAF,Halltech Throttle Body,
Taylor wires w/ Beru Plugs,160 degree thermo,Fuel Pressure regulator,Fan controller,TPIS long tube headers,Off road X-pipe (takes place of cats),O2 sims,Borla cat-back,Yank torque conveter 2800,Eradi speed rotors,Green stuff pads,Goodridge stainlees steel brake lines,Hotchkis sway bars,Z06 rims 9.5 front-10.5 rear,Michelin Piolot Sport tires 265/40/18 front-295/40/18 rear,Breathless Performance heat extraction hood,

Future
When I was doing all my mods I wanted to do bolt on only.  I was afraid to start tearing into my engine.  Now I have had it dynoed but it was while I was hear in Germany, so there were many conversions to do and the end result was 440hp and 496 torque.  This was all at the flywheel.  How the cooky Germans came up with this is beyond me.  I told him it should be at the wheels, but he said at engine.  Oh well, I will get it down again later.
So anyway,  My first ideas were to get as much hp as I could with no real direction to go.  I just wanted a lot of power so I could try to hit the 200mph mark.  Well when I got here I finally go to open it up I and I hit a little over 190.  No HUD so it's hard to get the exact speed, but the needle was deffintly over 190.  Then I hit a drag strip one day.  All my directions have now changed.  I was hooked.  All my arrows point for more low-end and torque and less top speed.  I loved it (but still not very good at it).  I'm in the works of getting slicks first.  Then I will put in new gears and much larger torque converter (which I wish I had done in the first place).  After that then it's a debate on going heads, cam, roller rockers, or the Pro Charger Super Charger.  Time will tell on that (so will $$$$$$).
