I am a latina born and raised in Chicago. Having been raised within the confounds of my parents ideals I opted to enlist in the Army after high school instead of follow my peers into college. Needing a drastic change I selected a tour of duty that would put the distances of an ocean between me and my parents. Thus months after basic training and technical learning I found myself in the foreign country of Germany for four years; what a culture shock.
After an extended tour of duty and once again amoung civilians I travelled across the U.S. States until I settled for a time in Orlando, Florida where I give birth to the scariest experience of my life - motherhood. Three years into the life of my eldest daughter I found myself heading back to Chicago, a single mother with two daughters. Like a protective mother bear I refused to spend anymore time away from my girls than necessary and so, except for the need to work we would be the three musketeers. Once the girls were well on their way in life I worked in a part-time college course here and there until I earned my Associates from Wilbur Wright College; a feat I thought sometimes that I would never win.
Today I managing three college careers. My youngest is in her first year at Wheaton College and recently proclaimed a major in Communications with a minor in Spanish for which she is planning to study aboard in Mexico a semester. My eldest, is my rock. She is a Junior at Wheaton College and with any luck she and I will graduate in the same year. She is studying aboard this semester in Australia. I have two dreams, to see them both suceed in life and to one day open and manage my own daycare academy.
