Checklist for the 2003 1/2 Season (Hopefully our Inaugural Season)
-First things first, let's have a decent webpage. Geocities is not sufficient for our future needs and we need to find either free hosting or cheap hosting. Possible free sites include www.tripod.com where our domain name will be www.mlnr.tripod.com. Of course it may just be another free hosting site like Geocities and it's basic page builder. I had hoped to get www.mlnr.com but I felt that was too expensive. If we pay for hosting, hopefully our address will be www.mlnrmovies.com or www.mlnr.org. However, if we get one of these names we will need someone to "professionally" (make the site look better than the current site) design the site. I envision the website to be an informational portal for the club. -Make contact with Swank Motion Pictures, www.swank.com and establish an account. Unfortunately we will have to buy viewing rights in order to use UT's facilities. -Design logo for the movie club. I orginally designed the "red ticket" logo for the club, however the quality of the graphic is poor because I used MS Paint. The logo could be done in another program or whole new logo can be designed. Suggestions from yall include the red oval logo from the 40 Acres Fest popcorn box and some form of italic lettering. I am open to any suggestions which follows the spirit of the movie club. -After the website is redone and the logo designed, I would like to construct an A-Frame sign to advertise the movie club in the West Mall. The sign will complement our website and draw in potential members. Unless we set up a table at the West Mall, this will be our main form of advertising. My idea for the "A-Frame" is to actually build a four sided box. Two sides will have the popcorn theme (as seen at 40 Acres Fest), one side will have our logo and domain name, and the fourth side will have our schedule for the semester and possbily a slogan. ex. "When was the last time you saw.... Dumb and Dumber, Caddy Shack, Scary Movie II on the BIG screen?". I open to other ideas for this sign. -Speaking of popcorn, are we going to be selling popcorn? I have explored buying an popcorn machine like the ones seen in theatres and I have realized that they're not affordable at the moment.
