How Our Club Got Started?
From the very beginning, Bihner and Lance wanted to start a club. Well, we hoped that's a good enough of an explanation of how our club got started. You don't agree? Okay, fine! Here goes:
During the Summer of 2001, Lance was interested in starting a club.  We both agreed that it would be a cool thing to, start a club from scratch (little did we realize all the time it takes to fill out the application).  We pondered a few ideas, but nothing to get excited about.  Our best idea was to start a Lefty's club.  Since Lance and I were both left-handed we got the paperwork to start the club.  In order to start the club we needed three people.  Finding a third member proved difficult and Lance and I thought to ourselves of the purpose of the club.  Throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, Lance, a few friend, and I informally gathered and watched movies.   We watched all sorts of genre of movies, but we all seemed to like watching comedy movies.  A good laugh always seemed  to undo our stressful college life.   Near the end of our Spring semester, somehow I came up with the idea of a comedy movie club.  At the time I didn't think about actually starting the club, but just the idea of it.  There is currently not even a film/ movie club that I'm aware of on campus.  The closest thing I believe in is the Anime Club.   Lance liked the idea, and every week we got more and more serious about starting the club.  We discussed possible names trying to avoid the obvious of UT Comedy Movie Club.  We wanted something different to stand out among other clubs.   Something catchy and memorable.  Somewhere I saw the "mlnr" combination and thought it could be used as an acroynm.  As I result I came up with "More Laughs, Next Reel".  Although reels have been outdated, it gave a club a classical Hollywood connotation.  Also, our name is our motto of the club which basically says comeback next time fof more laughs. Several questions have arised, and most of them have yet been answered.  While studying for our finals, Lance and I discovered it was a lot easier discussing the club then studying.  So we checked online for resources.  We found that Harvard clubs show movies on campus and we found places that sell concession stand machines (popcorn machine, nacho machine).  During this summer, Lance and I got serious about finishing up our paperwork and sending it in.   We are almost done with the paperwork at the moment.  More to come!!!!
