1. PROLOGUE

Hello,

My name is Margarita Luchinovich Gardner, and I hope to share my life with you through this web page.

2.MY FAMILY AND BACKGROUND

I was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus. I lived there until July 2004, when my new husband brought me and my son to Park City, Utah,USA. My parents were divorced when I was young, and I was raised, along with a sister who is two years older than I am, by my mother. She was a good, kind, polite, and tolerant mother. She worked as a shop assistant until she died of cancer in 1985.
My older sister, Janna, still lives in Minsk. She works in a wedding salon while continuing to work at getting a diploma in economics. She will graduate in 2005. She also has an 18 year old daughter who is also going to the university.
My son, Aleksandr (Sasha), is twelve years old, and he is a student at Treasure Mountain Middle School in Park City, Utah, USA. He is a very bright young man. He loves airplanes, computers, technology, cars, and our dog, Maggie. He is also a very good athlete.
My husband, Wayne, is a retired airline pilot. He saw a picture of me and Sasha, and he could not resist us. He loves golf, bridge, and the Internet, but those activities have been greatly shortened as he spends most of his time helping Sasha and me adapt to our new country.

3. MY INTERESTS

I love to read, grow flowers, travel, sightsee, and make my home comfortable. I have a special interest in the circus, the theater, embroidery, and in knitting.

4. MY SHORT STORY

I graduated with a diploma in chemistry from Belarussian State University in 1990. I worked as a chemical engineer for two years until my son was born. I then became an accountant because there was little need of chemical engineers in Belarus. I worked as an accountant until I left Minsk.
At present, I am a student at the English Language Institute at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

5. EPILOGUE

I am lucky to be associated with this wonderful English program where I am meeting with so many different people with so many different backgrounds. The teachers are also wonderful. I hope that this semester will lead me to new friends and new experiences, and I hope for an exciting new life in America.
