| No natives were near when it happened, but a few hours before dawn they saw the light fill the heavens, heard the booming explosion, and saw the fiery pin-point fall through the starry night sky and crash down to the ground. The vapor trail, left by the fallen star, was a guide to them, an arrow pointing them to a great revelation. They knew at once it was a sign from their gods to take up arms and destroy any being within their borders. First, they must pay homage at the site of the sign, and then: to war. Operation: Fallen Star The country of Stalinia has been hard at work developing the new aircraft. Made of a new polymer radar absorbing material, armed with the newest, most advanced weaponry seen in the modern world, powered by revolutionary Ion Drive Propulsion, and piloted by the first generation of actual Artificial Intelligence, the project was finally in the test stages. The diagnostics, the launch, the reconnaissance, the flight - everything looked perfect, until something terrible happened. It crashed. It fell from the sky into the wilderness outside Stalinian borders. The two human pilots sent as failsafe in the event the AI failed ejected and the whole system went up in a blaze. At least, it was supposed to go up in a blaze. Satellite photos show signs of very in-tact pieces of the most sensitive parts of the aircraft lying about the area, all of which need to be recovered or destroyed. Satellite also shows signs of active native life gathering in numbers, traveling towards the site of the crash. Officials want a team of highly trained soldiers to insert into the area, gather the crash remnants together, identify anything salvageable, and destroy everything else, all before the natives arrive, ETA 1700hrs. Lenholm, the country on the opposite border of the wilderness, has known about the secret aircraft of their rival, Stalinia, but has never been able to acquire any piece of their advanced technology. The infrared signal detected over the wilderness between their countries had all the markings of a downed aircraft, but without any radar indication that a plane was in the area. Bingo. They, too, are sending a team of specially trained forces to recover whatever they can of the wreckage before the natives arrive. Who will arrive first? Who will make it out in time? Who will leave victorious? Turn your eyes toward the sky and stay sharp for the Falling Star. |
