Candy's Update with her New Family!  April 2005
Debb,
How can we say thank you? Candy is a dream come true for Karen and me. She brings life back to our home. She has an energy and playfulness that's just what we needed.
he stole our imagination in your website photos. She stole our hearts by the time we got to the car at BWI. She's playing. She's running. She's eating (good appetite including the theft of a couple of doggy treats left just in reach on the kitchen table). She's drinking. She's our puppy girl.

A couple of anecdotes:

While Karen was walking Candy this morning Skippy's dad (who we used to run into on our walks) drove by in his truck. He couldn't open the window since Skippy would have jumped out, but he stopped and pantomimed as he pointed to Candy and clapped his happiness at seeing our Candy girl. Even though we only told a couple of people that Bach had died, in our small neighborhood, people stopped by or let us know how they were going to miss him. Now, Candy is already endearing herself to everyone. They're happy for us and that's an irreplaceable good feeling.
Karen had to run a couple of quick errands this afternoon. Well, we had a completely disconsolate doggy. Candy would go to the door and sniff and whine and run back to me and back to the door and the whole process started over. Oh, good heavens, where was Mom? She's left me forever, I know it.
We had to check every room in the house, upstairs, downstairs. I just can't find her. Oh, this is terrible. Let me go back and sniff the door again.
When Mom got home, it was, Oh, life is good again. Everything's ok.
She's already learned on a walk that when asked, "Ready to go home?" she turns around and heads right back to the house. On the quick, in between yard walks, she does what she has to and then beelines it for the back door. She's a smart puppy.
I don't have to tell you how lovable she is. How cute she is. How she has that little bit of mischief in her eyes. How she can curl up on the couch next to Karen and drop off to sleep in the wink of an eye. How she just brings joy to Karen and me.
I don't know the right words to be able to say any more than thank you. We'll do everything we can to make sure Candy stays as happy and loved as a puppy can be.
