| Hi and thanks for stopping by! These are some of the links I have found for international volunteer and employment programs and opportunities. There is A LOT about these pages that I dont know, I make no claims or recommendations. I just had a lot of links bookmarked and thought they might be helpful or interesting. I volunteered with the Simon Community (an organization for the street homeless) in London for six months. It was an amazing and challenging experience. My advice to anyone considering any sort of volunteer work would be to do your research. Find out as much as you can about the program; its history, funding, goals, mission, and philosophy. Especially if you are considering long term and/or residential volunteering. Even more important than investigating the program is looking at your own expectations and motivations. There are several books that outline the reasons and methods of this much better that I can. How to Live Your Dream of Volunteering Overseas and Back Door Guide To Short-Term Job Adventures are two books that I think have excellent sections on choosing a program thats right for you. So look around, write for more information, and talk to people. Have fun! If there is anything you want to add or ask go to my handy guestbook. |
