| Pageant Scoring & Judging Scoring 1/3 Poise and Appearance in Formal Wear 1/3 Poise and Appearance in Causal Wear 1/3 Talent Judging Formal Dress: You will need one formal dress. Be sure your dress style is appropriate for your age division. We recommend that you do not wear hats, gloves or hoop skirts. It is not necessary to buy expensive clothes for the pageant. Try to borrow or make use with what you have. Prom dresses are fine and can be used again. We suggest that you try Bride and formal dress shops. We also recommend in some cases to try renting a dress. Local or family/friend seamstress may add a unique touch. The formal wear scoring is based on your poise and presentation in the dress; not the dress itself. Dresses don't have to be white. Choose a color that you feel good wearing. Solid colors work best. Girls have won in dark bold colors, like red or black, but you will generally find that for your appearance on stage that lighter, softer colors are preferable. White is a very popular color for dresses because it is easy to obtain and has a bright fresh appearance. Accordingly, many girls happen to have white dresses. Causal Wear Business suits or unique coordinating outfits. Dress or pants. Any color under the sun. Once again we recommend what ever you feel comfortable wearing. Accessories add a wonder touch to any outfit. Hats and scarves are appropriate here. Opening Number Outfit This outfit will be worn during the opening number. It consists of the official T- shirt along with a pair of black legging/ stirrups or capri pants. The shirt will be provided to the contestants by the coordinators. This should be worn with white tennis shoes and white socks, which you will bring with you pageant weekend. Talent All talents are to be 3 minuets or less. Points will be deducted for talents that run over this time. Talents may be monologues, dance, instrumental, mime, vocal/singing or any other approved act.
