If you would like to request an extension for a deadline, all you have to do is call or email our staff and a pageant representative will be happy to help you whenever is possible. 4. What is a "Sponsor Fee" and how much is it? The sponsor fee currently is $ 250.00. The sponsor fee pays for the cost of producing the pageant, awards, directors, emcees, lighting, sound, staging, judges expenses, staff, florists, trophies, savings bonds and of course, scholarships. Remember we are a non-profit organization. You may have as many or as few sponsors as you wish contributing to make up your total sponsor fee. Any combination of businesses, family, friends, or anyone is acceptable. Neither the number nor name of your sponsors has bearing on the scoring in any way. 5. Do I need to go to any other functions or take a modeling/grooming course? No. All required pageant activities will be taught to the contestants at the many rehearsals. Our staff will instruct you in every aspect of pageant life from walking to smiling. 6. Do I have to be "beautiful", "thin", or have perfect teeth to have a chance to win? No. The Little Miss and Miss Lexington Scholarship Pageant, while being a glamorous event, is NOT known as a Beauty Pageant. We pride ourselves on being a scholarship program offering and awarding opportunities to contestants in various areas of competition. The judges are scoring contestants on where you are in life, just the way you are. What you need to concentrate on is just doing your best and remembering to be positive. 7. What will I need to learn and do at the pageant? Most of the pageant rehearsals you will participate in will be fun and exciting rehearsals, and you learn the skills to successfully participate in the pageant. Basic stage modeling, using a microphone, public speaking and interviewing are examples of activities that you will have the opportunity to master while rehearsing at the pageant. 8. Do girls wear makeup and frilly dresses? We encourage the contestants to dress in any appropriate manner that makes them feel comfortable. All contestants are encouraged to wear age appropriate makeup. We encourage all girls in all divisions to wear outfits that show off personality and their own individuality. We do have some rules on clothing which are specified in your material that will be sent in the mail, however, generally speaking we want you to wear what you feel most beautiful and confident in. |
