Courthouse Museum.

In 1871, a wooden Courthouse and Gaol was erected behind where the Anglican Church now stands, (Stroud Street, Bulahdelah). The first appointed resident Magistrate was Mr. P. Snape, and the first Police Officer was Constable Steel.

The present courthouse was built in 1886, after white ants had destroyed the original wooden building. Most of the building material for the new building came from England and was put together using a number code system, each sandstone block having a number written the back of it.

Some locally made bricks were used in the gaol section. The old brickworks were approximately behind the present day Anglican Church.
