A Little Background

"Voices" is one of the student directed one acts being presented at Western Nebraska Community College this fall. It was directed by Amy Black, and the cast was as follows:

Maya: Melissa Saito
Kate: RoseLee Warren
Erin: Dona Smith
Rosalinde: Amanda Harimon

Along with "Voices," Bell Island, a member of the community, directed "Sunday, Sunday," for an interesting evening of one act plays. Saito said that being in "Voices," was "interesting, challenging and mentally stimulating."

Each cast member had to reach deep down inside to find their character. Most thought that the most difficult thing about this play was that there was no interaction between the four different characters. The entire play is made up of several separate monologues by the women. Saito said she related well to her part because it was a lot like her own mother.
