"The Secret Garden" was chosen by Susan Selvey, the executive
director of the West Nebraska Arts Center, for the Foothills Theater
Christmas show of 1996. Here is the cast of the 1996 show.
It was directed by Susan Selvey, the garden backdrop was painted by local
artist, Mary B. Hunt. The rest of the set was designed by Bill Gool, who
was also our Stage Manager and Lighting & Sound Technician. Our costumes
were provided by the Iowa Repertory Theater.
Quote of the Show
I think the funniest thing (well everybody else thought so) was when one
of the kids from the school performances came up to us after the show and
said, "Where's the witch lady? We wanna see the witch lady!" Of course,
they meant Mrs. Medlock (that's me). I was very much insulted, but I poked
my head out of the dressing room and I said, "That's me." They took one
look at me, yelped and ran off screaming! Good grief!
