Win: Drummond Santiago Loss: Frank Levrault

Carrying a 2-1 lead into the sixth, St. Louis picked up a third run on a Scanlan single before Dotel made the second out, bringing up the pitcher—Santiago—with two on and two out.  Unforgivably, Levrault walked Santiago, loading the bases, and then back-to-back singles brought home three more runs.  This, however, was made mostly academic thanks to back-to-back home runs by Bivas and Whitt in St. Louis’ four-run ninth.

Win: Len Boerner Loss: Milt Renko

Dan Dotel’s three-run blast capped the Red Birds five-run third, which proved enough for Boerner despite a three-run Chicago rally in the eighth that was too little and too late.

With Chicago down by three, Vin Velazquez hit a three-run blast in the fifth to tie it up.  A Hawley double gave Chicago a lead in the seventh, but Campbell quickly tied it with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the inning.  The bullpens held until the last of the eleventh, when Campbell singled home Boss with the winning run.

Win: Joe Washburn Loss: Gabby McElyea

Chicago carried a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Armando Scanlan erased it with a leadoff home run.  An inning later, a Whitt double pushed Bivas to third, and he scored on a sacrifice fly to win the game, earning St. Louis a sweep and its second straight World Series title.
