Win: Mike Lindaman Loss: Drummond Santiago

Renko did his best to keep Chicago alive, allowing just two hits over seven and two thirds.  It seemed, though, that Chicago would suffer an embarrassing sweep when Melvin James scored the first run on a Jay Sisti error in the eighth.  But in the ninth, the Claymores stunned everyone—including a Santiago, who’d scattered six hits over eight shutout innings—as Donnie Overmire and Lou Kirkpatrick hit back-to-back home runs to win the game.

Win: Len Boerner Loss: Bill Eichhorn

Any comeback hopes spurred by Chicago’s dramatic Game 4 victory were quickly dashed when Melvin James hit a three-run first-inning blast to put St. Louis in the driver’s seat.  The score was 5-0 before Chicago broke through against Boerner, who allowed just four hits in the entire game.
