George Mabry brought the Caps within one on a two-out, two-run ninth inning double, but Hobbs got Rob Floyd to end the game and make Monteleone’s effort stand up.

After Derrell Beamon’s solo blast in the eighth blew Baltimore’s second lead, the Caps finally managed to stay alive when Michael Sagmoen singled home Jason Merritt in the top of the tenth.

After the Caps pulled within a run in the fifth, Monteleone and Hobbs silenced the opposing bats completely.  Despite a valiant effort from the bullpen, Baltimore didn’t manage a single hit in the final four innings.  A home run and two RBI for Derrell Beamon capped an impressive series.
