Up one game, Kansas City took a two-run lead into the sixth. But Chicago scored once in that inning and
again in the seventh to tie it. In the
eighth, both of Chicago’s AL-leading homerun men struck, as a triple by Cicotte
brought home the go-ahead run, and a two-run shot by Rob Floyd blew it
open. KC picked up a run against
Dickshot, but he held the lead to tie the series.

Home runs by Tolentino and Chessie led a six run first-inning rally for Chicago, and then Cicotte and Ellis homered in a five-run second inning. That gave Marty Sandusky an 11-0 lead. He was solid through five, but got touched for four in the sixth and a couple more in the seventh before the Chicago bullpen closed the door.

Clint Ellis gave Chicago the lead with a two-run fourth inning single. RBI hits by Floyd and Hobbs in the next two innings pushed the lead to 4-1, before Bill Chessie hit a three-run blast in the 7th to make it 7-1. As if that wasn’t enough, Chessie came up with two on in the 8th and did it again, hitting another three-run blast to make it 10-1. KC couldn’t rally, and Chicago took the series in dominating fashion.
