The 'PUP' 1/3 scale Gas
Sitting ready for flight.
Needs a road for a runway.
Take offs are slow and easy.
Graceful in the air.
On show at a local R/C 1/4 scale meet.
The only 1/3 Scale with 1/4 Scale around.
Another view.
Yes it flys!
This is a 1/3 Scale Sopwith PUP put out by Basa USA in kit form. The airplane is balsa and lite-ply constructed and covered with a cloth and Doped paint finish with auto paints over that. The wheels are 13" baby carriage. Just a note: There is over 2000 eye glass screws in the lyno type metal in the front for scale. The prop is a 26" on a 62cc Gas Engine. The radio used was a 5 channel with all 1/4 scale servos and 2-1000ma battery packs for safety and duel switched. Gas tank was a 24 oz. for 30 minute flights. A maximum of 3 flights per day was set again for safety. This Plane flew like a kite and a 1 hour flight was made at one time after 35 minutes of fuel was used. Thats right, I glided it in the winds like a glider for 25 plus minutes! Everyone was complaning that I was flying too long! So I landed. Grin. I logged 40 plus flights and then sold it.

The plane now hangs in an Aviators Resturant in Ft. Lauderdale with other 1/3 scale airplanes.
