Here is a short "how bettas breed" explanation:
Male Bettas build bubblenests.  Then, the male "embraces" the female and fertilizes a few eggs which she releases later on.  The male Betta picks up these eggs, coats them with saliva and sticks them up into the bubble nest.  Look closely at the pictures and you will see white spots--the actual eggs.
