Football Fathers

In order to involve the entire community with the football team, we have two programs which involve the parents of the players. We want to be a “family organization” and the more we can involve the whole family of each team member, the better off the team will be and the more comfortable the parents will be with the football program. One such program is called the Motivating Mothers and the other is known as the Football Fathers.

The Football Fathers is a fairly small organization that would have three main functions: 1. they would take statistics at games, 2. they would film games, and 3. they would do film “cut ups” after the games so that the film would be ready for study by the coaches each Sunday afternoon. Ideally, four statisticians would be required for each game, two Dads would be needed for filming, and two or more Dads could get together for preparing the game film for “cut ups” for film study by the coaches. As with Motivating Mothers, Football Fathers should probably consist of one senior father and one freshman father. This arrangement might work best so that the entire group would not have to be totally reorganized each year when seniors graduate and the freshman father could help the next year’s members acclimate themselves to the group responsibilities.

Like the Motivating Mothers group, fathers who are involved with the team help to strengthen the team and help create more community spirit. The group members could schedule themselves so that the same people were not “on duty” for each game. Details would be left up to the Football Fathers members.
