| PLAYOFFS- ROUND 2: Franchise Hockey 5 Sobrato 1 |
||||||||||
| June 16, 2007: Matched up against newly-annointed rival Sobrato, Franchise Hockey turned in its second overpowering performance of the day and eliminated Sobrato in a 5-1 rout. For the second game in a row, Mikey Stanzler was completely dominant, making key save after key save as the Franchise advanced to its first championship. Franchise Hockey jumped out to a huge lead early in the first. Myles Rowland went on a one-man offensive rush from the defensive position and weaved through the entire Sobrato defense. He finished the play by slipping a wrister past the Sobrato netminder to make the score 1-0. Moments later, his brother Cam Rowland batted a Matt King saucer pass out of mid-air to extend the lead. The Franchise went up three when King stole a Sobrato pass and set up Josh Capelle for a one-time tip goal. Sobrato called timeout and settled the game down. It made the score 3-1 in the second period, ending Stanzler's shutout streak at five periods. Capelle was quick to answer, however, and the Franchise controlled the game until the very end. With second left in the third, King sealed the deal on his new Franchise season-high twenty-second goal of the year. With one of Sobrato's top skaters still sidelined with a suspension that stemmed from an incident with Brian Reich in the teams' June 2 meeting, Franchise Hockey again made it look easy in offing a quality team. The moment had arrived: Franchise Hockey was ready to play for the championship. Box Score: 1st Period: M. Rowland 9 (Ragoobeer, King) C. Rowland 5 (King, M. Rowland) Capelle 17 (King) 2nd Period: Capelle 18 (Anderson, M. Rowland) 3rd Period: King 22 (Anderson, Ragoobeer) Goaltending: Stanzler 8-2 (1 GA) |
