GAME 7:
Franchise Hockey 5 Overfelt 2
May 26, 2007: After a full week of practices that were equal parts angry and encouraging, Franchise Hockey overcame the absence of the Rowland brothers and defeated Overfelt 5-2.  With a hat trick from Josh Capelle, a solid performance by Mikey Stanzler and four assists from Matt King, the Franchise extracted revenge in a grand fashion.

Capelle opened the scoring early in the first period with a long wristshot that found its way through a screen from Kris Anderson.  It lead 2-0 after the frame, with Anderson redirecting a perfect centering pass from Brian Reich.

A brilliant individual effort by Capelle accounted for the third goal, after Capelle picked up the puck and took three shots on the Overfelt netminder.  The third shot found the back of the net, giving the Franchise a 3-0 lead and its first of two powerplay goals on the night.  After injuring his knee when he went awkwardly into the boards after a breakway, King threw a long wrister on net which was tipped by Reich to end the third.

After Overfelt cut the Franchise lead to 4-2 midway into the third period, the defense tightened up.  A spirited effort, led by Sheraj Ragoobeer who had two assists, shut down the Overfel offense that had put six past Stanzler in the previous game.  In the last minutes, Capelle completed his hat trick on a pass from King.

Next weekend will be the Franchise's final regular season doubleheader with games against Pioneer and Sobrato.  Myles and Cam Rowland will be back in the lineup.

Captain's Thoughts:

It didn't take rocket science to read the Franchise's mood after last weekend's ridiculous loss.  Clearly, the team was angry, frustrated and inspired to right the ship.

Tonight was a result of a full week of intense practice.  As Chris C rightly said, the team was more confident and more prepared.

Major props to Chris C. and B-Reich for answering the bell.  It was clear that those two needed rebound games to get themselves back on track.  They got them.

Mikey had one of his finest games in recent memory, stifling Overfelt all night.  He had help from Sheraj who also rebounded from a tough game against Overfelt last weekend.

Kris was a beast as usual and did an outstanding job teaming with Josh.  Josh has really established himself as the Overfelt Killer.

See you at practice.-

Your Captain
