| February 15, 2008: In a blowout of epic proportions, Franchise Hockey, playing with the minimum of four skaters, demolished Monta Vista 18-0. It was the biggest win in Franchise history, as well as the largest gap in any game to date. Astounding offensive efforts by Nick Sako and Matt King led the way. Sako set a new single-game record for goals, lighting the lamp a record ten times. He also contributed seven assists for a whopping total of seventeen points in a single game. King, playing with a temperature, came in with seven goals and nine assists. Mikey Stanzler pitched his second shutout of the season. In the past three games, Stanzler has only surrendered a single goal. On defense, Chris Cornelius and Ray Cleverly helped shut down Monta Vista. Cornelius finished with eight assists, and Cleverly scored a goal to go with his five assists. Defenseman Sheraj Ragoobeer's absence was not a factor, as the veteran missed the game with a fever. Also out of the lineup was Cam Rowland. Rowland will also not play against Bellarmine. Ragoobeer is questionable. Eighteen goals works for me. As nice as it is to overcome the adversity of playing short and really taking it to the opposition, these games aren't real. When we get to the playoffs, Sako and I aren't going to be able to walk through defenders, and Mikey may actually need to break a sweat. Point is: enjoy these wins, because it won't be this easy tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, hopefully we'll have some reinforcements. Let's take down Bellarmine.- Your Captain #37 |
