GAME 1:
Franchise Hockey 1 Los Gatos 0
January 5, 2008: Franchise Hockey won its season opener in a forfeit loss for Los Gatos.  Trying to field two teams this season, the Los Gatos orange squad only had one player, and the result was a Franchise win by default.  It was the third consecutive opening game the Franchise has won.

Following the forfeit, Franchise Hockey scrimmaged with an assortment of Division 4 and 5 players.  In the scrimmage, Chris Cornelius and Ray Cleverly both scored their first indoor goals (although they won't count), and Nick Sako was completely dominant offensively in the limited minutes he received.  Sako sat most of the second and third period with a skate problem.

Mikey Stanzler played in goal against his teammates and was bombarded with shots.  Meanwhile, Matt King and Cam Rowland also switched teams briefly.

Non-rostered players Kris Anderson and Josh Capelle returned.  The two were very effective in the offensive zone, but were bested by Stanzler several times.

Captain's Thoughts:

We are technically 1-0, but this game really had little meaning.  It won't do the league any good (they couldn't really evaluate our performance), and it helped most of us only in the sense that we got some free ice time out of the whole deal.

However, for Chris C and Ray, this game was a big deal.  Scoring was huge, but the level of comfort they played with will allow this team to be more aggressive offensively and more comfortable utilizing the point.

Next week- the games really start.-
