| Game 4: Posse 12 Franchise Hockey 0 |

| July 14, 2006: A lackluster Franchise Hockey was destroyed by the score of 12-0. In a lopsided blowout by the Posse, the Franchise mustered little offense, was exposed on defense and was badly outskated. Playing in what appears to be their last game without stud defenseman Sheraj Ragoobeer, Franchise Hockey lacked speed and energy. Captain Matt King took a butt-end in the first period, Robby Merk was tired from running track, and Drew Winn had caught a baseball game prior to the late night matchup. Goaltender David McGrouther had a rough night in his return after a one week absence. His cause was not helped by the confusion on defense which reigned supreme for the majority of the night. Kit McCavitt and John Peters were burned numerous times by speed. King and Merk's inability to jumpstart the offense was ultimately the Franchise's undoing. The addition of Ragoobeer and fellow defenseman Chris Cornelius will certainly help the cause. Personal point streaks were snapped for King and Chris Sorenson. Forward Dara Rahimzadeh made his season debut and generated offensive energy. Box Score: Goaltending: McGrouther 0-3 (12 GA) Captain's Thoughts: Let's forget about this game quick. What else can you do? We were outskated, outhustled and outplayed overall. Every member of Franchise Hockey has to be completely ticked off. Next week, Sheraj and Chris C. wll be back. This alone has to give us some energy and enthusiasm. Keep in mind that we have a lot of talent; we just need a few parts to help jumpstart the whole team. All I can say is we can't skate with these guys. There are certainly ways around that. We need to really play a box, pick a side and stop chasing the perimeter skaters. Come to practice. We'll work on skating, but we'll also work on a strategy of minimizing other teams' advantages in skating. We know how to play solid defense and generate offense. Things will get better. Keep your heads up.- Your Captain #37 |
