| An update of activities at the Train Museum. | ||||||
Entry for April 15, 2007 ![]() Last Saturday John S. has been busy placing artifacts in various places like the brakewheel that is mounted on the door at just the right height so kids can turn it (see pic) and there are more lanterns on display and the switch lights are working and more. It's looking good, be sure to stop by and see. The last couple of Saturdays business has been a little slow so we took the opportunity to decorate the museum with railroad artifacts. We now have a working crossing signal and bell that we bought from the Hutch club. We had our meeting last Tuesday and it was decided to purchase the crossing signal. Operation Lifesaver We will be taking on another project (as if we don't have enough). We will be making a 4x8 layout for the Kansas Operation Lifesaver to be displayed at the Kansas State Fair. The Hutch club built the last one in 1983 and they were asked to build this one, but they didn't have the people or a place to do it, so they asked if our club would. John S. and Chris W. agreed and they will be the project contacts for this and if you would like to help, please contact them. Sunday Fun We would like for everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy running the trains for the public. It's a lot of fun to see the kids as well as the adults enjoy it. So the possibility of having the train display on Sundays was brought up for those members who can't come in on Saturdays. We would pick the best day for our club to run and it would be great if we could be open on both days but I need to find out how many members are interested and ready to commit. John D. and Tom K. would be able to commit for 1 or 2 of these Sundays but we need to know if you would like to do this also. If you would rather run on Sunday from 1-5pm, please let me know. Mayday Also, on another note, the McPherson Mayday Parade is on May 11th. and I thought it might be nice if we would display the trains at that time. (after the parade ). Please give me your thought on this as I need to let the Mayday committee know so we would get on their list of activities. Enid Train Show Also at the meeting, John S. announced he will be attending the Enid train show Sat. April 21st. and if anyone would like to ride along he will be able to take 5 more people. He will be leaving McPherson at 6am that Saturday, so if you would like to go, please call John S. 2007-04-16 00:43:26 GMT
