You may recall seeing Sir Don-Yaro Berger's name in the credits of his latest movie, Veril's Triumph (which starred such tasty talents as Sir Amadeus and Sir Veril). No, he is not an actor, he wrote it.
Now whether or not you like his style of writing, or even the topic of his writing, or even Sir Don-Yaro himself, you have to admit, he's been around for a long time, and it doesn't seem like he is going anywhere soon.
As a reporter I have to ask: why? Why is he so popular? The topic of his films have all been done before, so it's not anything new that he is presenting. His characters, Veril and Amadeus are no more then the typical weak genius, strong idiot combination that has also been done soooo often in Folleywood movies, so that isn't anything new either. Perhaps because it has already been done, there is a certain familiarity and safety in his movies, that make us come back again. Perhaps Folleywood is overly obsessed with the happy endings that he always supplies, that comforts you and says everything will be alright. Perhaps his movies serves as an escape from the reality of life, where there isn't always familiarity and a happy ending. Is that all we want in our lives? Is to escape? Is that all there is? A happy ending?
Hmmm.. Anyway, in this reporter's opinion, his film reeks of hum-drum predictability and bad writing. I give his latest movie 3 stars , only because Sir Amadeus is so talented, he can make even the worst of scripts sound good.
